  • David Robinson Gets the Last Laugh

Apparently the story is that Shaq once asked David Robinson for his autograph but David Robinson snuffed him. Over the years there was a unfriendly rivalry, with Shaq calling David Robinson, "soft."

So Robinson goes into retirement, winning the championship. Here's to a class player.

Duncan finished with 21 points, 20 rebounds, 10 assists

Check out these mad stats from Robinson in 1993:

    29.8 points per game
    10.7 boards per game
    3.3 blocks per game
    4.8 assists per game

Well, finally someone put the dying horse that is this series out of it's misery.

Congrats to the SA Spurs, Though I must admit, They're the team I liked the least in the final rounds.

      Who was your team?

Duncan also had 8 blocks in this game

One of the best finals performances ever

            Why is he retiring?

He still seems to have a decent game. He hasn't been playing in the league that long has he? Maybe 12 or 13 years.

Duncan had a sweet game, that's true... BECAUSE HE WAS PLAYING AGAINST JERSEY. Do you honestly think he would have got those stats vs. a good team? The finals were a complete waste of time this year. We all know the west was going to win, but at least it could have been watchable if the Spurs weren't there. I also can't help feeling like they only got there because all the other teams had serious injuries.

              to this year's finals

I actually think that NJ rose to the occasion and were rather decent.

The teams in the east have much to pick up, it seems.

                  SPURS WIN!
Woohoo, lots of parties here in San Antonio

David Robinson is a local hero here and he fully deserves all the respect he's getting. I'm glad that the Nets and the Spurs were the 2 teams that made it to the finals. Both teams are composed of quality people (I've had enough of Shaq's arrogance/idiocy for a while).

The thing with the Spurs is that they seem to only play hard enough to squeak out a win against their opponent. So when they playde against the Lakers, they stepped up their game. IMO, the Nets weren't as good as the Lakers, so the Spurs probably didn't feel the need to bring their game to as high a level. In any case, I enjoyed this year's playoffs .. good to the see the Lakers dethroned and Mr. Robinson go out with a nice farewell gift!

Robinson has been in the NBA since 1989-90 (Rookie of the Year). But don't forget that he lost 2 years because of his Naval committment.

Robinson is retiring, as I understand it, because his back is really messed up and he's just to old to play through it now. Robinson missed a whole season with a back injury several years ago. Coincedentally, that's how they managed to draft Tim Duncan.
