For there is [another] kind of violence, slower but just as deadly, destructive as the shot or the bomb in the night. This is the violence of institutions -- indifference, inaction, and decay. This is the violence that afflicts the poor, that poisons relations between men because their skin has different colors. - Bobby Kennedy (Mindless Menance of Violence)
Is your brother getting subscription fees or ad money?

I know somebody who brings in Japanese items and sell them on the Web. I am not sure how much is "considerable" to you, however.

I haven't discussed subscription fees with him, though he does accept donations...
The last I heard, ad revenues weren't even covering bandwidth; almost everything he makes is from the books and other merchandise. That probably explains why every ad I've seen recently is for the Sluggy store.

I suppose any amount about zero is considerable. Anything over a few hundred dollars (profit) is pretty impressive and a steady income where not too much time is required is quite impressive.

There are various legit ways of making money on the Web. You can sell items over on eBay or on your own website. You need a source of goods, which could be something you buy or something you make.
You can also sell services (e.g. Web design) and software.
