the only reason you have civil rights leaders is to compensate for the over the top racism of the state. california had no need for civil rights leaders because civil rights were never a horrible issue for the state.

Yeah, tell that to Chinese people in 1900 .

And Latinos in some white rural Cali towns.

Civil rights never horrible... I also bet Japanese during WW2 would beg to differ.

chinese people have been integrate since then. and how many chinese people were lynched in that time.

and the ww2 thing wasnt done state by state. if the law had allowed georgia would have interned black people during wolrd war 2.

oh yeah, what happened in conyers? what was that? a syphillis outbreak? only in georgia...

Yeah Chinese people have been integrated since then, but so have blacks in the South.

And, may I remind you that California minor leagues were segreated as well before Jackie Robinson, a Georgian, broke the major league color barrier.

Seeing as black Georgians are a majority in the state and are mayors in Atlanta as well as other major cities in the South and are well represented in the legislature, I'd say they really don't feel segregated. Maybe in the boonies, but then again in the boonies, California has similiar problems.

the only people who get mistreated in california arent legal immigrants. but if you take up the cause of illegal immigrants then i believe hell, *ahem* georgia will have frozen over.

Califronia won't let people smoke in BARS, yet has some of the worst pollution in the country.

I've always taken up the cause of illegal immigrants. I'd love to throw the borders open... but selfish Californians, among other border staters wouldn't like that at all.

And I wouldn't say it is JUST illegals:

In most of your cities. Go eastward, and you get closed white racist communities just like in the boonies in every state . You can get off your high horse about having no racism, because you definetly do.... and if you don't believe that look at the LAPD.

Btw, I never knew labor unions were rightwingers .

im a teamster imran, and the teamsters have several "legal" immigrants in the brotherhood. The impression other people get though imran, and this is whats important, is that georgia has a longer history of government sponsored and protected racism than california.

i find it funny though that the only positive you can come up with though for georgia is rib shacks.

I've never been to Georgia but I hear Atlanta's a happenin' town. I lived in California (Santa Clarita, LA County) for three months (came back April 18th) and it's alright out there but I got to say, I like the East Coast much better.

And if you know an area has an incredible food, you wouldn't hold it up? I should tell New Yorkers and Chicagoians to not talk about pizza anymore .

What else do you want me to tell? Atlanta is a wonderful city, full of people of every ethnicity (and they bring their cooking as well ). You can head downtown and see the Capitol, the CNN Center (good tour, btw), Coke's attraction... or go to Midtown & Buckhead for the bars and clubs and great eats. Or go to Decatur for that small town feel right next to a big city. Farther north, the rich areas of Alpharetta with horse parks and fabulous communities. And not to mention the wonderful music and politeness of everyone you meet (seriously, Southern people are much more polite).

Or, we can go to Savannah to see the prettiest city in the country, with gardens all over, and right on the water. We can get some good seafood and lounge on a porch overlooking the nice prominades.

Or, if you want to party, Athens, where UGA is. Ranked over and over and over again as the best party school in America (Sports Illustrated featured the mascot on its cover when it announced its list). It's an entire town devoted to the college and partying.

And of course, some of the best baseball around. There are a great number of minor league parks and great high school talent that comes out of Georgia every year. Not to mention Michael Vick and up rising Atlanta Falcons .

That enough 'positive' things for you?

Imran, only 1 of those is objective and thats the partying. saying savannah is the prettiest city in the country is you subjective opinion. atlanta may very well be wonderful, but you can find many of the same or similar things in other cities. best baseball? says who? says you.

im a huge vick fan but until i see two fists full of rings from atlanta i shall scoff.

the thing that i believe is, california offers everything any other state could, and more. to me georgia might as well be alabama, but there is only one california.
