        The only problem is that, in the second movement, the grace notes are absolutely wrong. Why Kleiber does this (it has to be intentional), I have no clue. Otherwise, the recording is astounding.

        Amen. Toscanini bores me. Precise, yes, but also dry, clipped and expressionless. Furtwangler was a broken man by the time he died, however. A late victim of the Nazi regime.

        It's a good one. Who's on the Philips? Didn't the Beaux Arts record for them (or whoever used to own the label)?

                          I didn't know about Handel (seriously - I don't bother to find out the sexual preferences of composers - for some strange reason I think it doesn't matter) but IIRC Bernstein played for both teams, so you guys only get half of him.
