I always feel a bit guilty making fun a stuff like like this, it could be a kid after all......mind you kids always put 'David aged 12.77' or whatever at the end!

heres a prediction, we know Vader falls into the lava pit at the hands of Obi Wan, right? My guess is that during that fight Vader is on the verge of winning when Amadala sees what he has become and.....you know whatever, flicks the switch to the lava pit trap door. etc
A simlar moment to ROTJ when Vader kills Palaptine, all facial close ups and tortured expressions.
EP1 was so kiddy and cute that I never bothered watched EP2.
I mean, millions of people dying in a war - and how much blood shown? A tiny stab wound when Obi Wan's mentor gets stabbed.
Compare to Star Wars - Luke's uncle and aunty toasted in the desert, that guy's arm getting chopped off - much more gritty.
So if EP3 actually has a bit of believable violence, it might be an improvement.
As for the stale acting bit, I've heard Ewan MacGregor interview where he stated that all of his EP1 appearances were filmed twice - Lucas' appreciated the acting was stinko bad, so had to coach him to get more out of him. I dread to think what those original rushes were like, because I think he's the worst actor in the movie.
So as far as EP3 goes... I think I'll pass.

have you seen 'making of...' for EP 1&2? the actors are in a blue room talking to themselves! I'm just amazed the acting wasn't even worse!
So maybe this is where Lucas went wrong!
Mark Hamill and Harrison Ford landed their parts in the original largely because they were an unknown quantity. Not sure about Carrie Fisher - but those are the actors with the highest amount of screen time, the main and supporting actors in the first series. They didn't have a reportoire, a "method" of acting - they just did what seemed natural.
The line up for EP1 and EP2 had a whole host of stars... but what might have been a smarter move was to hire actors who could act in a blue screen production movie, rather than big names for whom the whole idea was an alien and arcane process that went against their existing experience.
Instead, Lucas hands out roles to conventional recognized actors - and then wonders why the reviews are so bad.

yep, thats what i was trying to say, Sci-Fi needs special effects but a film needs realistic character interaction.
Macgregor, Neeson etal can't have suddenly become bad actors overnight? Any film that can make the great Samual L Jackson look like a stiff has got major problems IMO

I don't know about that. They are going to have to pull out all the stops for the final duel between Vader & Obi-Wan.

It's going to be interesting to see how they stop Vader/Anakin from levitating out of that volcanic pit... or maybe that's how he survives.
Now that's why I call a spolier!
