And I can provide a link to a website where you can talk to real life prostitutes. I'd like to see their response when you call them sick.

I think sex in general is degrading towards women. And I feel no shame in being turned on by it. So I stand by my earlier comments that oral sex and most sexual positions are degrading towards women (esp. doggie style). But I guess that is just the way biology made up men and women with respect to their genitals and body structure.
I would bet they would justify prostitution, particularly if they are freelance call girls. However, even they would probably be in favor of legalization and mandatory drug testing because they know that some of them are virtual slaves and truly are abused.

As to sex being degrading to women, it is not. Women like sex when it is involved with "romance."

Sava, do you believe someone should allowed to play Russian roulette for an audience so long as they or their designated beneficiaries are well paid?
Yes... it's called "thinning the herd", "evolution", "darwin awards", etc. I wish more stupid people would kill themselves.

I think sex in general is degrading towards women.
Sex isn't degrading... it's natural. And in fact, women have become empowered and liberated sexually. This is a byproduct of equal/civil rights, the social revolution in the latter half of the 20th cenutry, etc. As for the acts of oral or sex positions, people are degrading, not positions. I don't feel degraded when I go down on my GF, and vice versa. In fact, I would argue that the giver of oral is the one in control. I'm the conductor of a symphany of moans and exclamations of ecstasy.

I have to ask this question of you can because you seem too completing fail to understand the damage prostitution does to women.
The "damage" is caused by the criminalization. If prostitution were legal, taxed, and subject to strict standards, conditions would be much better. As with any social issue, criminalization and prohibition is creating the problem, not the solution.

well you said prostitution, you didn't specifiy legal or illegal. This particular website would relate to legal prostitution btw.

They aren't allowed to use drugs while at the brothel, I'm not sure if they are given drug tests though.

I think what we have on this poll is a bunch of porn consumers, mostly teenage virgin boys who are the main demographic for the filth.

Its one thing to view the stuff, its another to somehow claim doing so is ethical.
Any views I may express here are personal and certainly do not in any way reflect the views of my employer. Tis the rising of the moon..

can someone who's never been in the business say it is unethical?

bah, this ethical word bothers me. check out this definition

                eth·i·cal ( P ) Pronunciation Key (th-kl)
                adj.
Of, relating to, or dealing with ethics.
Being in accordance with the accepted principles of right and wrong that govern the conduct of a profession. See Synonyms at moral.
Of or relating to a drug dispensed solely on the prescription of a physician.

Ethics deals with right and wrong that govern the conduct of a profession. It doesn't deal with the issue of whether the profession itself is right or wrong. For example, it would be unethical to use prosthetics and camera tricks in lieu of a real penis in order to fool the viewer into thinking they are seeing a real penis.

I think is pornography moral is a better question.

                    • haven't you been paying attention? I didn't have a mother... my one dad discovered me after some mean mexican food. You see, after my two dads had sex, the receiver (dad A as I call him) used to stand by a microwave while making popcorn. They used to watch reruns of "Simon and Simon" after the ass-poundings. One day, the radiation caused the two sperm to unite, creating me. Luckily, I was too big to fit down the toilet or else I would have been flushed. The clogging of the toilet is what caused me to be found.

                      • Dissident, I can give you the unabridged definition, but ethics does involve the very broad question of morality of and whether something is right or wrong. If the only question involved is literal consent, there is nothing wrong with prostitution, with pornography, with gladiator contests, with Russian Roulette, with suicide.

But the larger question of the ethics of these "consensual" acts involving very basic questions of morality and of ethics.

                            • My main problems with porn is how women are depicted (I am not talking about gay porn here Boris ), the working conditions and how many of the "stars" are trapped there financially.

Oh, this is about legal porn, not any of that evil illegal underground stuff.

Those who want a more factual look into the sex industry in the US might look up "Pimp" by Iceberg Slim (AKA Robert Beck).

You could just watch the movie - but the book let's you get inside his head more. Somewhat dated now (I believe he got out of the industry in the 50s) but still gives a lot of reasons why women work as prostitutes.
