If you are interested in PBEM there are a lot of players and a league at Counterglow.

See the Competitions Forum and Games Forum for more details. It's very much a friendly/learning league. Good for beginners.

Squad Leader with all those expasions. I got the game plus the first two expansions, and found nobody to play with. I eventually donated it to the game club when I graduated from university.

I tried to find it in Hong Kong, went to Mongkok and Causeway Bay. Then I find out that the company only sells it through the Internet outside of North America.

Kind of interesting that the developers decided to market it on their own.

          I've ordered it.

MikeH: I never heard of the game until I read that review on Counterglow. Didn't know if I could trust it so that's why I started this thread.

The more I read about it, the more it sounds like a kick-ass game. Can't wait for it to arrive.

                Went to the wrong places.

There's a big computer game store in Wanchai Computer City, which has the most complete inventory in Hong Kong. If you can't find what you want there, try Golden Computer Centre (top floor).

In this case, it doesn't matter.

I also tried there. They had never heard of it. Which store are you talking about?

In Wanchai Computer City, there's a big computer games store on the second floor. Though I am not surprised that they haven't heard of it, they didn't know anything about Galatic Civilizations last time I checked.

And in your case, it doesn't matter, since the company would only sell it through mail order outside of North America.

Unless they've changed, they only sell it through mail order or online, period, not in stores. Their rationale was pretty good, considering the hosing most developers get from retailers and publishers.

Not trust it? Why not? It's not like CG is going after corporate sponsorship.

Venom's Medieval Total War review put all thoughts of that to rest.
No, I did not steal that from somebody on Something Awful.

Not just developers, a lot of people got hosed by The Middle Man. Isn't this what the Internet is for anyway, getting rid of the middle man?

I would expect most any review by Venom would put thoughts of corporate sponsorship to rest.

I quite like reading the reports of how peoples games are going even though I'm not playing the game myself. Which is a good sign.

It's not anything like that. It's just that I know people here and can judge their opinion based on that. The people at CG could be great, but I don't know some of them.
