    Yeah it is..

But those two pictures you posted, especially the first one, is awesome..

Lonestar, it seems like San Diego has more buildings since the last time I was there in 97 I think it was... where many of those built very recently?

Just to see if my memory is testing me right.

Edit: To think of it. Sorry Azazel. I got mixed up with the posts... you were responding to lonestar.

This isn't a very recent picture...I can think of no less than 3 skyscrapers under construction downtown, and there are several Highrise hotels on the waterfront.

          Nope.

well, ok then. It's kinda cute, actually.

Now get this, we're a capital of one of Israel's 6 districts, namely the district of Haifa. So the government has, as a part of a nationwide effort to locate all of its' offices in a single part of the city, built a Government district in Haifa. This is the flagship building: 29 floors, 430 ft high. The Sail Tower. ( but often referred to as "The Rocket" ).

            EDIT: fixing image.....

Actually, it looks much better from the other side.

But that doesn't say much, does it?

                    Another excellent site:
                    http://www.skyscraperpage.com

Jeez, you'd think a site about the world's tallest skyscrapers wouldn't make a mistake about THE world's tallest skyscraper, but they did! On the Shanghai page they list the Shanghai World Financial Center (now under construction), which, when completed, will be the world's tallest, but on the home page they forgot it!

Cool site, but some terrible drawings! I had a hard time recognizing some of Shanghai's most prominent landmarks!

                    • I thought Eurocoms enforced some zoning rules because of the churches there are something.

Interestingly, Washington DC has low rises zoning enforced. DanS isn't it like 10 stories is the limit? But then when you get to the surrounding areas (Crystal City, etc.) the heights go up. Makes for a cool city, Washington with it's traditional landscape and then surrounded and the periphery by all these high rises. Sort of the opposite of having the big ones in the middle.

Well, I have a big one in the middle but that is another story!!!

I'm not against skyscrapers per se, but they seldom look nice next to much lower buildings.

And they cast bloody huge shadows. Take a look at the beach in Surfers Paradise Australia, not much sun in the afternoon.

that's why you have to work it out with both the city design ( not too many big buildings near small buildings ), as well ass with the building design ( that it would fit the area )

The same as with the Hospital. They're planning to build it for couple decades now.
