Sorry, that's the price of democracy, you have to put up with annoying demonstrations from time to time. We don't whine about how much yours cost, so stop complaining about ours.

As to emergency vehicals not being able to get through, I've never once heard of that being an actual, rather than hypothetical, question. Demonstrations are always publicized in advance, and the are of the demos are well known. Emergency vehicals are already routed around the are. Plus, most demos occur downtown, where emergency vehicals almost never go (nor do they originate from downtown). On top of this, any city that is big enuogh to have a demonstration also has multiple emergency vehical sites, multiple hospitals, and even helicopters which have the ability to avoid demos altogether. In the very unlikely event that an emergency vehical would have to cross the path of a demo, the vast majority of demonstrators would get out of its way and let it through. We are talking about people who are more civic minded that the right, after all.
