In fairness, the theme it is about isn't stupid, not judging people based on their social status, is a good one and a theme that many young people could use exposure too. Of course, the movie will probably still suck anyway.

Then can't we just send them to see Valley Girl, that early-80s piece of fluff with Nicholas Cage as a punk in love with a Valley girl? The soundtrack has Psychedelic Furs, Modern English, Men at Work, and "Johnny Are You Queer?" on it. Then we could do something more productive with the tens of millions of dollars that "Sk8r Boi" would cost -- like gather all that money into a big pile, set it on fire, and roast marshmallows.

Anyway, I guess my point is, yes she is an idiot. She is a moron and produces music that is not really punk(for that look at groups such as AFI or Sick of it All). But I think anyone who is going to be popular with today's teenage youth in the age of pop is destined to be an idiot. And I think it may be favorable having someone like Avril be the chief #1 idiot then somebody like Britney Spears or have that position shared by a boy band. The fake puke-ness of Avril, I think, is a lesser evil then the hard core prepiness of somebody like Spears. I would hope maybe there was some chance the anti-prepiness and anti-social status discrimination in Lavigne's music could translate to somewhat more egalitarian values then what you would find with Speers.
