  • One of my favorite bands, that no longer exists:

    Black Happy - Shoveljerk

Do you want to see my true face
and get to know my real place
Do you really want to see how much I know
and feel, I know what I'm supposed to be
I'd rather feel that to see and when I run there is
nothing that can hold me up
I had a hot streak one time it helped to make
up your mind and now it's showing everything
I need to be, my word does not mean a thing

It only helps to get free so I can do as I please
What is hiding beneath my skin
It's just the costume I'm in

It's changing colors any time I want it to
    I need attention all day
I'm prone to make some mistakes
but it's never my fault, it's yours
I make the other half see
how blessed they are to have me
how lucky they should feel that I'm around for them
No matter what I can't fall
I'm always here for them all
just as long as everything is always geared to me

    I'm a jerk, I'm a creep, I'm so shallow, I seem deep
I got what I want and I got how I need
And I know that you will always listen to me

Do you think I can help the world
my tail is hidden and curled
and I can lash back anytime that I want to
ideas are none but my own
    I don't care what I have sown
I'm out of reach for anything to come back on me
When all is finally done at least I know I'll have fun
and by the way how were things for you
    I really couldn't care less
'cause I don't clean up the mess
everything is always taken care of for me

Mine is never to take the blame
    my story's never the same
I'll rearrange it to try and get away
and when I go to my grave
    I don't care if I am saved
I'll get the same treatment that I got down here

    • Another band I like that nobody has heard of:

      On Second Thought - Buck

All is sacred. All will pay.
All came clear to me today.
Howl, when the good life make you.
Go where the moment take you.
Know when your mama scold you.
Do what your papa told you.
But sometimes you get a break in stride.
      This paradise you muddle over.
      Everybody gotta give sometime.
      Everybody gotta break a little.
Felt so stupid. All this time.
Knew you were a friend of mine.
      Feels good when your jokin'.
      Take it, if it's smokin'.
      Learn from what befell you.
Dance when the music tell you.
      They might call you restless.
      They might call you psycho.
But that doesn't help you and
      what the hell do they
know? Yah, what the hell do they know?
And it's all just mindless guessing now.
But don't it make you get excited?
      Everybody gotta live sometime.
      Everybody gotta Buck a little.
All is sacred. All will pay.
All came clear to me today.
Howl, when the good life make you.
Go where the moment take you.
Live, though you know you're dyin'.
Laugh when you feel like cryin'.
      Monkey!!!

      • Never Forgive, Never Forget, biohazard.

I welcomed you with open arms
To share my pride and glory
You said you searched for a better life
At least that was your story
You caught me off guard with your deception
And now I'm just seeing red
I rid this world of your f*cking infection

        Never forgive, never forget
        Never forgive, never forget
Eye for an eye, life or death
        Never forgive, never forget
Kill or be killed with no regret

I am justice and I am the law
        Excectioner, judge and jury
You preyed on human tragic flaw
But now you face my fury
A favor to the world, I erase your life
Covered in blood I dance to your death
For crimes against humanity, I'll finish the fight

        Never forgive, never forget

Now it's killing time, vengeance is mine
You're the lowest form of ****ing life
I dare even call you human
My heart breeds hatred, terror and spite
My revenge will be your ruin
May your family die a thousand deaths
        No remorse, no idol threats
Clock strikes twelve, I take my respect

        Never forgive, never forget
I wasn't born with enough middle fingers.

        • Triple Shot Thursday - Tracy Chapman

          Fast Car

          You got a fast car
I want a ticket to anywhere
          Maybe we make a deal
Maybe together we can get somewhere

          Anyplace is better
Starting from zero got nothing to lose
          Maybe we'll make something
But me myself I got nothing to prove

          You got a fast car
And I got a plan to get us out of here
I been working at the convenience store
Managed to save just a little bit of money
We won't have to drive too far
Just 'cross the border and into the city
You and I can both get jobs
And finally see what it means to be living

You see my old man's got a problem
He live with the bottle that's the way it is
He says his body's too old for working
I say his body's too young to look like his
My mama went off and left him
She wanted more from life than he could give
I said somebody's got to take care of him
So I quit school and that's what I did

          You got a fast car
But is it fast enough so we can fly away
          We gotta make a decision
We leave tonight or live and die this way

I remember we were driving driving in your car
The speed so fast I felt like I was drunk
City lights lay out before us
And your arm felt nice wrapped 'round my shoulder
And I had a feeling that I belonged
And I had feeling I could be someone, be someone, be someone

          You got a fast car
And we go cruising to entertain ourselves
You still ain't got a job
And I work in a market as a checkout girl
I know things will get better
You'll find work and I'll get promoted
We'll move out of the shelter
Buy a big house and live in the suburbs

          You got a fast car
And I got a job that pays all our bills
You stay out drinking late at the bar
See more of your friends than you do of your kids
          I'd always hoped for better
Thought maybe together you and me would find it
I got no plans I ain't going nowhere
So take your fast car and keep on driving

          You got a fast car
But is it fast enough so you can fly away
          You gotta make a decision
You leave tonight or live and die this way

          Paper and Ink

          Touched the mirror
Broke the surface of the water
          Saw my true self
          All illusions shattered

          Money's only paper only ink
We'll destroy ourselves if we can't agree
          How the world turns
          Who made the sun
          Who owns the sea
The world we know will fall piece by piece

Sat down up close to the colored black hole
Like they'd always told me not to
Saw the one dimension polka dot pacifier
          And all illusions shattered

          Money's only paper only ink
We'll destroy ourselves if we can't agree
          How the world turns
          Who made the sun
          Who owns the sea
The world we know will fall piece by piece

Bared myself wholly heart and body unadorned
          Stripped down solely
To the evil and the good
          Felt no shame
          Naked to the world
          And all illusions shattered

          Money's only paper only ink
We'll destroy ourselves if we can't agree
          How the world turns
          Who made the sun
          Who owns the sea
The world we know will fall piece by piece

          Faced towards the sea
          Looked to heaven up above
Felt the world revolve around me
No one could tell me otherwise
But the turbulent waters won't reflect this life
Only the sun the moon and sky
          And all illusions shattered

          Money's only paper only ink
We'll destroy ourselves if we can't agree
          How the world turns
          Who made the sun
          Who owns the sea
The world we know will fall piece by piece

          Money's only paper only ink...

          Unsung Psalm

There would be psalms sung by a choir
I would have a white robe a halo newly acquired
I'd be at peace and I'd have no desire
          If I'd lived right

There would be cherubs with tiny harps arrows and bows
I'd have a halo and a flowing white robe
I'd be enfolded by a celestial light
          If I'd lived right

But I'm feeling hot and bothered under the collar
I feel the sweat breaking out on my brow
I feel the heat and I know it's the passion
          The love I can't disavow

If this is a dream wake me up now
If this is a movie let's edit these scenes out
It would be a PG instead of an X-rated life
          If I'd lived right

Some would call me a cheat call me a liar
Say that I've been defeated by the basest desired
Yes I have strayed and succumbed to my vices
But I tried to live right

But I have no regrets no guilt in my heart
I only feel sadness for any pain that I've caused
I guess I wouldn't bother to worry at all
          If I'd lived right

Do you live by the book do you play by the rules?
Do you care what is thought by others about you?
If this day is all that is promised to you
Do you life for the future the present the past?

If there is one thing I know I know I will die
If anyone cares some stranger may critique my life
I may be revered or defamed and decried
But I tried to live right

There would be psalms sung by a choir
I would have a white robe a halo newly acquired
I'd be at peace and I'd have no desire
          If I'd lived right...

          • kings of tomorrow - finally (original 2001 version)

            Time marches on never ending,
            time keeps its own time,
            Here we stand at beginning,
and then goes passing us by,
And I, I, I can dream for us all,
            I hope I'm in a better state,
When here and now crumbles and falls
and you, you , you who make worlds collide
I knew you'd come knocking one day,
unannounced like a thief in the night.

Where do we go from here,
            time ain't nothing but time,
I now have no fear of my fears
And no more tears to cry,
tomorrow, tomorrow, tomorrow means nothing at all
If we don't hear the line,
when today places its call, and morning, morning, morning
            Won't ever be the same,
now I won't make the same mistakes, time and time again

            time and time again
            time and time again
            time and time again
            time and time again

So tell me how do you do
            Finally I meet you
You don't know what I've been through,
            waiting and wondering about you
I had a dream my trip would end at you,
            and now I know paradise.

everything but the girl - missing (todd terry remix)

            I step off the train
I'm walking down your street again and past your door
But you don't live there any more
It's years since you've been there
But now you've disappeard somewhere like outer space
            You've found some better place

And I miss you - like the deserts miss the rain
And I miss you - like the deserts miss the rain

            Could you be dead ?
You always were two steps ahead of everyone
We'd walk behind while you would run
I look up at your house
And I can almost hear you shout down to me
Where I always used to be

And I miss you - like the deserts miss the rain
And I miss you - like the deserts miss the rain

            Back on the train
I ask why did I come again ?
Can I confess I've been haning around your old address ?
The years have proved to offer nothing since you moved
            You're long gone
            But I can't move on

And I miss you - like the deserts miss the rain
And I miss you - like the deserts miss the rain
            And I miss you

            I step off the train
I'm walking down your street again and past your door
But you don't live there any more

And I miss you - like the deserts miss the rain
And I miss you - like the deserts miss the rain
            And I miss you
And I miss you - like the deserts miss the rain
And I miss you - like the deserts miss the rain
The deserts miss the rain - like the deserts miss the rain
            The deserts miss the rain

            • Shola Ama - Need Somebody

When somebody reaches for your heart
Open up and let them through
              'Cause everybody needs someone around
Things can tumble down on you

You'll discover when you look around
You don't have to be alone
Just one lover is all you need to know
When you're feeling all alone, oh

              You might need somebody
              You might need somebody. too...

If there's fire stirring your heart
And you're sure it's strong and right
Keep it burning through the cold and dark
It can warm your lonely nights, oh

              Baby -
Oh you might need somebody. too
              (Need somebody) Yeah
Oh you're gonna need somebody, too
You're gonna need somebody (Need somebody)
              Too, I know I do
              Need somebody, too...

              • the streets - weak become heroes

                Turn left up the street
Nothing but grey concrete and dead beats
                Grab something to eat
                Maccy D's or KFC
Only one choice in the city
Done voice in my pity now lets get to the nitty gritty
Tune reminds me of my first e
Like unique still sixteen and feelin horny
Point to the sky feel free
A sea of people all equal smiles in front and behind me
Swim in the deep blue sea cornfields sway lazily
All smiles all easy where you from, what you on and what's your story
Mesmerizing tones risin pianos this is my zone so stop clonin
                Pick paper scissors or stone
Coz me and you are same i known you all my life i don't know your name
The names European Bob sorted anyway
Gonna have dance now see you later please to meet you
                Likewise a pleasure

We were just standin there mindin our own
And it went on and on
We all smile we all sing
The weak become heroes then the stairs align
We all sing we all sing all sing

We were just standin there mindin our own
And it went on and on
We all smile we all sing
The weak become heroes then the stairs align
We all sing we all sing all sing

The night slowly fades and goes slow motion
All the commotion becomes floatin emotions
                Same piano loops over
Arms wave eyes roll back and jaws fall open
                I see in soft focus
Chattin to this bloke in the toilets
Dizzy new heights blinded by the lights
These people are for life its all back to his place at the end of the night
They could settle wars with this
If only they will imagine the worlds leaders on pills then imagine the mornin after
Wars causing disaster don't talk to me i don't know ya
But this aint tommorow and for now i still love ya
Hours fly over sail round diamonds and pearls never seen so many fit girls
Discover new worlds look at my watch can't focus
Last two hours i lost every move fills me with lust
All of life's problems i just shake off
Mad little events happen things map out and a few blue maddens alight the toilets
Big beefy bouncers out to reveal us geezers on e's and first timers kids on whizz darlins on
                Charlie
All come together for this party
All races many faces from places you never heard of
Where you from what's your name and what you want
Sing to the words flex to the fat one
The tribal drums the sun's risin we all smile we all sing

We were just standin there mindin our own
And it went on and on
We all smile we all sing
The weak become heroes then the stairs align
We all sing we all sing all sing

We were just standin there mindin our own
And it went on and on
We all smile we all sing
The weak become heroes then the stairs align
We all sing we all sing all sing

Then the girl in the café taps me on the shoulder
I realize five years went by I'm older
                Memories smoulder winters colder
But that same piano loops over and over and over
The road shines and the rain washes away
The same Chinese takeaway selling **** in a tray
It's dark all round I walk down same sight same sounds new beats though
                Solid concrete under my feet
No surprises no treats the world stands still as my mind sloshes round
The washing up bowl in my crown
My life's been up and down since i walked from that crowd

We were just standin there mindin our own
And it went on and on
We all smile we all sing
The weak become heroes then the stairs align
We all sing we all sing all sing

We were just standin there mindin our own
And it went on and on
We all smile we all sing
The weak become heroes then the stairs align

I am just a poor boy
                  Though my story's seldom told
                  I have squandered my resistance
For a pocket full of mumbles such are promises
                  All lies and jests
Still a man hears what he wants to hear
                  And disregards the rest
When I left my home and my family
I was no more than a boy
                  In the company of strangers
In the quiet of the railway station running scared
Laying low, seeking out the poorer quarters
                  Where the ragged people go
Looking for the places only they would know
                  Lie la lie ...

                  Asking only workman's wages
I come looking for a job
                  But I get no offers,
Just a come-on from the whores on Seventh Avenue
I do declare, there were times when I was so lonesome
                  I took some comfort there
                  Lie la lie ...

Then I'm laying out my winter clothes
                  And wishing I was gone
                  Going home
Where the New York City winters aren't bleeding me
                  Bleeding me, going home
In the clearing stands a boxer
And a fighter by his trade
                  And he carries the reminders
Of ev'ry glove that layed him down
Or cut him till he cried out
In his anger and his shame
"I am leaving, I am leaving"
                  But the fighter still remains
                  Lie la lie ...

                  • Bonnie Tyler - Holding Out For A Hero

Where have all the good men gone and where are all the gods?
Where's the great white Hercules to fight the rising odds?
Isn't there a white knight upon a fiery steed?
Late at night I toss and I turn and I dream of what i need

                    I need a hero
I'm holding out for a hero till the end of the night
he's gotta be strong and he's gotta be fast
and gotta be fresh from the fight
                    I need a hero
I'm holding out for a hero till the morning light
He's gotta be sure and he's gotta be soon
And he's gotta be larger than life
                    Larger than life

                    Somewhere after midnight
                    In my wildest fantasies
                    Somewhere just beyond my reach
There's someone reaching back for me
Racing on the thunder and rising with the heat
It's gonna take a Superman to sweep me off my feet

                    I need a hero
I'm holding out for a hero till the end of the night
he's gotta be strong and he's gotta be fast

And he's gotta be larger than life
                    Larger than life

I the mountains neath the heavens above
Out where the lightning strikes the sea
I can swear that there's someone somewhere watching me
Through the wind and the chill and the rain
and the storm and the flood
I can feel his approach like a fire in my blood

                    I need a hero
I'm holding out for a hero till the end of the night
he's gotta be strong and he's gotta be fast
and gotta be fresh from the fight
                    I need a hero
I'm holding out for a hero till the morning light

                      American girls and American guys will always stand up and salute;
                      Will always recognize
When we see ol' glory flying,
There's a lot of men dead,
So we can sleep in peace at night when we lay down our head.

My daddy served in the army,
Where he lost his right eye.
But he flew a flag out in our yard 'til the day that he died.
He wanted my mother, my brother, my sister and me
To grow up and live happy in the land of the free.

Now this nation that I love has fallen under attack.
A mighty sucker punch came flying in from somewhere in the back.
Soon as we could see clearly through our big black eye,
Man we lit up your world like the Fourth of July.

Hey Uncle Sam put your name at the top of his list,
And the Statue of Liberty started shaking her fist.
                      And the eagle will fly,
                      And there's gonna be Hell,
When you hear Mother Freedom start ringing her bell!
It's gonna feel like the whole wide world is raining down on you...

Oh, Justice will be served and the battle will rage.
This big dog will fight when you rattle his cage
You'll be sorry that you messed with the US of A
'Cuz we'll put a boot in your ass
                      It's the American way.

                        Life is a waterfall,
                        We're one in the river,
And one again after the fall.

                        Swimming through the void
                        We hear the word,

"I remember as it were a meal ago"

Said Tommy the Cat as he reeled back to clear whatever foreign
matter may have nestled its way into His mighty throat.
Many a fat alley rat had met its demise while staring point
blank down the cavernous barrel of this awesome prowling machine.
Truly a wonder of nature this urban predator.
Tommy the cat had many a story to tell,
but it was a rare occasion such as this that he did.

"She came slidin' down the alleyway like butter drippin' off a hot biscuit.
The aroma, the mean scent, was enough to arouse suspicion in
even the oldest of Tigers that hung around the hot spot in those days.
The sight was beyond belief. Many a head snapped for double
even triple, takes as this vivacious feline made her her way into the
delta of the alleyway where the most virile of the young tabbys were
known to hang out. They hung in droves. Such a multitude of
masculinity could only be found in One place... and that was
O'malley's Alley. The air was thick with cat calls (no pun intended)
but not even a muscle in her neck did twitch as she sauntered up into
the heart of the alley. She knew what she wanted. She was lookin'
for that stud bull, the he cat. And that was me.
Tommy the Cat is my name and I say unto thee...

Say baby do you wanna lay down by me"

                            And you better believe
                            That he speaks his beliefs
                            Like a rock that bleeds
                            A sea of grief
                            My talking leaf speaks of
                            A wounded knee creek
                            American ghost dance...
A new man who is with old ways
He walks the streets of life
                            But he's in chains
                            I'm alive he cried
                            I can feel the flame
                            Burning red inside
                            I am an indian brave
                            There is a memory
                            That lives in my blood
                            Of the brand you laid
                            On all you touched
                            But the burning flame
                            Turns to burning pain
                            Genuine genocide
                            And that's truly insane
                            So like a wild hurricane
I will dance on the grave
                            Of my race that died
When it should have been saved

At least it settles in the final location
                            It's understood that Hollywood

                            They're just another good vibration
And tidal waves couldn't save the world

Tell me why you're crying, my son
I know you're frightened, like everyone
Is it the thunder in the distance you fear?
Will it help if I stay very near?
                              I am here.

                              (Refrain)
And if you take my hand my son
All will be well when the day is done.
And if you take my hand my son
All will be well when the day is done.
Day is done, day is done, day is done, day is done.

Do you ask why I'm sighing, my son?
You shall inherit what mankind has done.
In a world filled with sorrow and woe
If you ask me why this is so, I really don't know.

                              (Refrain)

Tell me why you're smiling my son
Is there a secret you can tell everyone?
Do you know more than men that are wise?
Can you see what we all must disguise
                              through your loving eyes?

On the sweet and the bitter
                              On our little daughter

                              On the flickering flame
                              On the running water
                              On the man returning home
                              from the distance

                              Chorus:

On the sweet and the bitter

                              Do not uproot the planted
                              Do not forget the hope
Return to me, and I will return
                              to the good land.

Protect for me, dear G-d, this house
                              the garden, the wall
                              From all sudden problems
                              And from war.

Protect for me the little I have
                              The light, the baby
the fruit that has not yet ripened
                              But has been reaped.
