As long as they're not too insistent, I consider them as comical relief. Isolated loonies are OK in my book. I am more worried when organized cults are recruiting this way though.

There's a guy who stalks the Toronto subway and yells about how God stopped him from drinking, beating up his wife and screwing around. I'm guessing the Lord only needed to stop the first.

          I'm not really a fan.

          Neither is JC:

"When you pray, you are not to be like the hypocrites; for they love to stand and pray in the synagogues and on the street corners so that they may be seen by men. Truly I say to you, they have their reward in full. But you, when you pray, go into your inner room, close your door and pray to your Father who is in secret, and your Father who sees what is done in secret will reward you."

I'm not talking about crazy people... i'm talking about the kind of people who mightaswell be ministers but choose to be out on the street preaching... i mean many of them end their 'sermons' by shouting the address of their church or mosque and asking people to come and further hear the truth of God. they're not crazy people...

There is a Christian bloke who stands outside the Church on the Main Shopping Street here in Derby, I cant have enough respect for the Man, as many people dismiss him as an idiot yet he comes out to preach what he believes.

              Good Job I say.

Likewise, there's a homeless man on 7th Ave/6th Street in Calgary who screams every day about how Ralph Klein is from outer space and is after our children. I can't have enough respect for the man, as many people dismiss him as an idiot yet he comes to preach what he believes.

From my experience, they are downright hateful. Anyone here know of Brother Jed? He tours the country visiting universities spouting horrible anti-gay and extreme sexist comments all in the name of what he would call "God."

The one thing I will say is that he is willing to answer most questions. However, when he was on one of his "homosexuals go to hell bits" I asked him if hermaphrodites were aloud to have sex. He had no answer and then proceded to completely ignore me and just started spouting more hateful ****.

I have an autographed book and pictures.

It's a bad pic, but that's Jed in the suit next to my buddy Sree.

Sree is in the orange. I forgot at first, but my other friend Ira is putting a "We're here, We're queer, Respect us" sticker on his back while he signs the book since they were having a gay rally at ASU that day and they were passing out those stickers. It was really funny for the 5 minutes it lasted. Serves him right.

Oh, and as long as I'm thinking about it...

Jed said he preached on the street and not in a church because he wanted to do it like Jesus did. He wanted to live like Jesus did.

Well, Jed. Jesus gave everything he could to those that needed it more than he, and you're sitting there in a nice suit signing a book that you sell in that pic benefitting from all you've gained by conning the people who actually believe your hateful ****. ****ing hypocrite.

There was a preacher guy, who does television shows in the US, American guy, really famous too coming here doing a show for huge crowds. We were thinking with few of my buddies that we should go there, dress nicely and sit quiet. We'd be scattered all over the place and not next to each other. Then one by one we'd stand up and say something stupid like 'I can feel it' and then pass out there. Or 'I can walk!' or something. We decided not to, because there was going to be lots of people and they liked him, so it would have been kind of bad taste so we didn't do it. But it would have been fun!
He was making money there obviously. Prices were outrageous anyway.

As for Street Preachers.. I haven't seen them.

Hey Agathon, ever watch the guy who stands outside the Eaton's Centre on the weekends who goes on and on about evil gay people?

Man, nothing wrapped up a day down in the gay village like a trip to Preacher's Corner and then shopping.
Exult in your existence, because that very process has blundered unwittingly on its own negation. Only a small, local negation, to be sure: only one species, and only a minority of that species; but there lies hope. [...] Stand tall, Bipedal Ape. The shark may outswim you, the cheetah outrun you, the swift outfly you, the capuchin outclimb you, the elephant outpower you, the redwood outlast you. But you have the biggest gifts of all: the gift of understanding the ruthlessly cruel process that gave us all existence [and the] gift of revulsion against its implications.

I have seen evry few street preachers in NY. The most vocal actually were the "Black Israelites"/ I have very little clue about their message; The most i learned was the White people were evil. They used to have a big precece in Tomes square in the mid 90's, but the police no longer tolerates them there. I guess oyou are tolerated only if you are selling 100 come on lines, or 450 sexual positions for a dollar.
