Is it just me or is the title of my country more a description than a title? Also, am I an American, or a United-Statesian? If I am an American, then aren't Canadians also Americans, since they occupy the American continent as well? What about South Americans, are they Americans too?

Yes, the name is descriptive, given that this is a federal system of 50 states that hppen to be in America, ad that are too boring to have another name, like Estados Unidos de Mexico. (bunch of white-bread folks)
And yes, the correct adjective is American. In Spanish, most people do say Americanos, but the correct title is Estadunidenses. If you don't like reality, change it! me
