How does someone deserve to be abused because they just wanted to sing?

If they 'just wanted to sing', they never would have tried out. Face it, Boris, they WANTED to be judged. That's the point of the show. They judged by the people of America. And believe me, we say worse things than Simon does at these people!

What kind of ****ed up system of morality is it to say people who don't meet your standard of talent are worthy of being publicly humiliated?

Who says it has anything to do with morality? I just want to be entertained, and people with crap voices getting humiliated because they thought they were the best in America is funny as Hell.

They're playing to the lowest denomenator, and you're lapping it up. Woohoo, good for you!

    Doesn't bother me any.

Delighting in the misery of others is an all too-common human preoccupation, but that doesn't make it anything to which I want to aspire.

That's fine, don't aspire to it. I'll keep up the slack .

I heard today that Simon won't be back next season. He wants to go back to England.

I wonder if the vote difference jumped from 1,300 to 130,000 after the Drudge Report carried a story about calls for an audit. Execs from other networks claim that, for the vote to be that close, the producers of Idol had to be fixing the numbers in order to pump up the excitement level.

Oh yeah, and bring back Dunklemannnnnnnnnnnnnn!

        They would claim that .

Boris: By you know, you should know what the show is like and that if you go up you risk harsh rebuke by Simon. They know (or should know) what they are getting into so you shouldn't feel too sorry for them. For the most part AI singers have given me the impression of annoying, arrogant, preppies who could use being brought back down to Earth.

Because he actually sang, instead of just standing there? I don't blame Ruben though, he probably just couldn't suck in enough oxygen to hit the notes like Clay can.

The best guy won too, IMO.

            The best guy WILL win.

BTW, when Clay's hit #1, Rub was still floating along at #32. He's lucky he's getting released first, because when Clay's gets released, it's going to blow him out of the water.

And Britney Spears was also #1 at some point.... so? Ruben was the better Idol. He won. All these people that live for Clay should get over it, IMO.

Yeah, and if Brittney Spears was in a competition with someone, I'd say she's won, but she wasn't and is thus irrelevant to this topic.

I don't LIVE for Clay. And I actually like Ruben, I just think he's boring. And he doesn't have fans like Clay, and he's not going to do as well as Clay, and he was praised continually while Clay was ridiculed, and the voting system was not made to be fair. It should be like 3-5 votes per household.

Here's a question: does anyone know how AmIdol is counting votes? Can you call in as many times as you want? A collegue said you could keep calling and getting the same "thanks for voting" message. Never tried it myself. If you can vote as often as you like, that kind of defeats the purpose doesn't it?

You can vote as many times as you want, but, depending on what part of the country you live in, you will get a busy signal a lot, especially Tues night.

And yes, it does defeat the purpose. Time, and CD sales, will show.

I was and still am a big Clay fan. I think he should have won. I have to agree with Tandee, at amazon.com Clay's presales already have him in the #1 spot and Ruben was at 368.

The first few shows are the best, when the worst, who think they are the best, get chewed out.

Ive only seen one episode of this show, and it was one of the first ones... those losers are so rediculous. I may be a terrible singer, but I at least have the brain to know the obvious

Simon is my favorite judge, by far. He tells it like it is .
No, he doesnt. He exagerates peoples faults terribly in order to attempt to be funny... which he addmitedly is... i feel guilty when i laugh...

I watched about half of it this time around.
                          *hangs head in shame*
And Simon is far and away the best bit, it just hasn't been the same since the idiots who tried argueing with him got kicked off I can have a little sympathy who got flamed by him last year, but this time around people should know what to expect and if their egos are big enough that they think that Simon will never insult them then they deserve what's coming to them.

Yes, Clay was sooo ridiculed. Especially when Simon said 'I think you should win this competition' in around Week 4 and 'That song could win you the competition' on Tuesday.

That is the MAIN problem I have with Clay-fans. I've run into this on other message boards (Straight Dope). They all seem to think it is a conspiracy against Clay, which I don't understand because it is obvious that the judges were trying to get a Ruben-Clay final. It ain't like Simon didn't say Clay was good. He did, constantly. And if he didn't Paula and Randy wanted to drop down and suck his **** after every performance!

Yeah, I'd like 3-5 votes per household... then Ruben would have won by MORE . Clay is lucky in that most of his fans were teenage girls (you couldn't tell by who was yelling when Clay's name came up during the finale?). As you know, teenage girls tend to go to the mat more for the people they think are 'cute'. I mean, seriously, look at Titanic. They didn't go to that because they liked the movie, they went to see Leonardo De Caprio. Same with AI. They saw Clay as shy and a little dorky, and cute, and they voted by the truckloads for him. So yea, bring it on!

Ruben won... and people love the velvet teddy bear. I'm just tired of people telling me I was manipulated into liking him by the judges, when its my personal choice that he was better!

Yeah, sure, he was praised SOMETIMES. I didn't say never.

Isn't it funny how I didn't say it was a conspiracy. If you have a problem with other Clay fans, maybe you should go talk to them.

which I don't understand because it is obvious that the judges were trying to get a Ruben-Clay final.

So you admit that they were manipulative? The fact is that Clay had fans in spite of the judges' treatment of him, while Ruben constantly had to be pushed (especially after, oops, he got put in the bottom two).

Yeah, I'd like 3-5 votes per household... then Ruben would have won by MORE .

Well, I disagree, but we'll never know.... oh wait, we will. We just have to see who sells more CDs. Oh yeah, that would be... CLAY.
If the voting had been fair, and Ruben had won, then fine. I don't care, I just wish it was fair.

Hello, almost ALL of the fans of AI are teenage girls. Did the deep Ruuben yells trick you?

I mean, seriously, look at Titanic. They didn't go to that because they liked the movie, they went to see Leonardo De Caprio.

Yeah, that's What's Eating Gilbert Grape (or whatever) was such a box office hit. Or look at The Beach, which was made for the specific purpose of showing Leonardo off. It did SOOO well.

Same with AI. They saw Clay as shy and a little dorky, and cute, and they voted by the truckloads for him. So yea, bring it on!

Well I can't speak for "them," but I love Clay because of his amazing voice.
