YEah, if it wasn't for simon, I wouldn't watch. He's right on most of the time.

And clay would be great on Broadway.

My wife got tickets for the their tour at the UC in Chicago. Main floor. She asked me if I wanted to go.
Thank god she asked instead of telling me.

      LOL!

While I loved the show.. I'm not sure if I could tolerate the concert .

I occasionaly watch this show with my family when I am home visiting them. Simon is pretty much all there is to make the show entertaining.

If anyone, Boris included, had to sit through so many howlers to get to the competitors, I would expect a snarly mood might develop.

Exactly! One of the things I like about AI is that I can watch it with my whole family, kids to grandparents. How many shows can you say that about?

And Simon DOES make the show. Alas, he wants to return to producing and won't be part of AI3 next year.

He says that now, but they pay him a truck load of money to do it, and it's hard to say no to a bigger truck load of money.

Who's gonna watch AI3 then?! They'll try to hire a Simon-ish person, but s/he will just be too over the top! Ya gotta have Simon!

Maybe they should try screening these people so they dont get all the ****ty people in the first rounds. The reason they dont is because insults sell.
Also, Nashville Star was one of the greatest talent shows this year. I dont listen to country, but those guys and gals (esp. miranda, and that other girl) were gooood.

They deserve to be treated that bad if they sucked that bad. Plain and simple. Constructive criticism isn't worth a damn if the person sucks so insanely badly.
Bull****. How does someone deserve to be abused because they just wanted to sing? People who do bad things to other people deserve to be treated badly. People who want to sing and follow their ambition deserve honest, constructive criticism, not abuse. What kind of ****ed up system of morality is it to say people who don't meet your standard of talent are worthy of being publicly humiliated? All these people did was sing--they didn't kill kittens or steal from orphans, for pete's sake.

Constructive criticism IS helpful for anyone. People who sing off key can learn to sing on key, it's not that difficult. For Simon to tell such people they are hopeless is not just mean, it's not true.

His behavior may be appaulling to you, but it was refreshing to us. And we loved Simon. You could see it by the huge applauses given to him at the last few shows whenever he was annouced. We love the guy because he doesn't hold back and says what he wants to say. It's about time someone didn't hold back and 'think about the feelings'. Screw their feelings, they knew what they were getting into.
The fallacy of the majority. I suspect this is the same mentality that delights in seeing wrecks on the speedway or fights in hockey games. Back in ancient times, Romans were delighting in seeing people ripped apart at the Circus. So what? Schadenfreude may be how you get your kicks, but that doesn't make it right or fair.

Not holding back criticism is one thing, but peppering the criticism with abuse because he gets sadistic kicks out of seeing people suffer is another. That's not just being inconsiderate of feelings, that's relishing pain. Notice how the camera always zooms in on the face of the contestant so we can watch their expression as Simon spews his bile on them. They're playing to the lowest denomenator, and you're lapping it up. Woohoo, good for you!

Btw: one of the more popular AI shows what 'The Best of the Worst'. People love seeing how bad some people are. And then last night they had some of those people do a song/parody thing. It was wonderful .
Delighting in the misery of others is an all too-common human preoccupation, but that doesn't make it anything to which I want to aspire.
