  • Bob Ross

I am an avid Bob Ross fan from back in the mid 80's.

    I paint regularly.

I know he does not paint "traditionally", but I wanted to know how many others got started painting as a result of watching him.

And I know he trained under Bill Alexander.

And to any traditional oil artists out there, please don't insult him.

I recently went to virginia to view his original paintings in person, and they are magnificent. 100 times better than they look on tv, and they look great on tv.

Was...he died a few years ago.

He was always a pleasure to watch, just because you could see he got so much enjoyment out of what he did.

                      Bob rocks!

However, I do believe that William Alexander was painting in this method before Bob.

I remember reading in one of Bob's instructional books that he studied the wet on wet technique under Bill Alexander and actually was a distributor of Bill's paint products at one point.

You can see in some of his earlier shows that Bob uses a bigger 2 1/2" brown brush (this is W. alexander's trademark brush).

Then, in later series he begins to market his own brushes and paints. (differentiated by the white handle and smaller 2" size.)

Not sure if this was due to a dispute of some sort between the two. I had heard that though.

Bob Ross still rules the universe though.
