Andrew J. Castor, 14, of 1432 S.E. 24th Ave. was arrested on charges of felony cruelty to animals, feeding a gator and the theft of the cat.
I can see charges 1 and 3 sticking, but charge 2, feeding a gator? Is that a criminal offence

But it leaves one burning question...does cat taste good.

Just remember, if cats were bigger, they'd eat us

Thats a technicality at best, Gepap.

The child broke the law and should be punished, but i don't think the maximum is correct, given the lack of priors. A stiff fine and community service would suffice.
      And some psychiatric help, obviously.

          .
No, anymore than the difference between manslaughter and murder is a technicality. The crime of murder simply does not apply to non-humans, as long as they have not been accepted as members with rights of the community.

That reminds me of a man who went to court for killing an endangered bald eagle.

Judge: Why did you kill the eagle sir?

Defendant: I am deeply sorry your honor but I was hungry so I cooked him and ate him.

Judge: Well that will be a $500. fine. By the way, I am curious; what does a bald eagle taste like?

Defendant: It tastes kind of like a Condor but probably is more similar to a spotted owl...

Listen now folks, if you're going to sentence him to a prison, you might as well execute him -- his life is ruined after the sentence and he won't enjoy his life anyway -- suffering from eternal guilt and bitterness.

Will commit suicide or start using drugs during the first 6 months, I'd say. Sending him into prison would be pure hypocricy, considering the living conditions in US prisons.

And I am guilty of genocide. (I wiped out a whole colony of ants that invaded my kitchen.)

They have to eat too you know.

Plus they don't keep people awake all night with their noisy lovemaking.

I'm not saying he shouldn't be punished. Just, don't treat him like a psycho or a criminal. No one will benefit from that.
Make him work at an animal shelter or something and he'll learn not to go around and feed pets to aligators
