Smoky haze expected to return by midweek
HOUSTON – A cool front Monday lowered temperatures and cleared most of Texas' skies of a lingering smoky haze produced by agricultural fires in Mexico and Central America. Bryan Lambeth, senior meteorologist with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, said the reprieve was expected to be short lived after a weekend in which the heaviest smoke was reported. Mr. Lambeth said the smoky skies should return throughout the state by Wednesday or Thursday.
