      We're all being a little unfair: the worst government on the planet for actively working against its people's best interests is North Korea. At least we can all approve of most of Beijing's actions these days. The cover-up started in the province, not at the top.

        If a guy with knowing knowledge of having SARS goes around spreading it anyway, then he is on the moral level of a suicide bomber.

        It's just unfortunate that China will never be looked upon with friendship by some people in the West - if they make a mistake that just shows they're bad; if they try to amend the mistake that means they shouldn't have made the mistake in the first place; if they actually start out by doing productive things, that means they're trying to bring down the peace and glory of the American civilization.
