I don't have a realplayer, since they started asking money for it.

      It's still free too...

You only need to pay for RealPlayer Plus

      Free one is here

If Microsoft spent half the effort stabilizing Windows and cutting down the pork, they'd have a spectacular OS...

I dunno, I found XP quite stable...

Seeing as Windows Server 2003's kernel is even more stable than WinXP's, and Longhorn's is being based off that and intends to be even more stable...and considering that Explorer.exe is now Managed .NET Code, and the planned 1-year exhaustive beta test, I'd say the chances of Longhorn being extraordinarily stable are high.

            Wow, that sure looks great.

And there I was worried I will have trouble utilizing all of that processing power on my 500Mhz P3.

Actually, the GUI on Longhorn Tier 2 will likely use less CPU than even Windows XP's GUI since it's entirely offloaded onto a multi-threaded GPU rather than doing it all on the CPU like before.

So, what you're basically saying is that the chances of getting it to run on my P333 with 2Mb graphics card (shortly to be upgraded to a 8Mb model) are pretty slim?

And there I was all starting to worry.

seriously, I think I sort of understood what you just said. The problem is, I don't have one of those graphics cards.
( It wouldn't consume that Graphics power when running in the background for computer games, right?

Ooooh... very, very nice. Just need to get a new computer before then... one with a 64 MB VRam card .

No problem, but don´t try to run anything else then...

I have it. It's a leap beyond Me, but I still have stability and other problems with it. A fresh reformat usually cures the problem for a month or three, though...

I figured as much, seeing as I sometimes get the feeling that I shouldn't be running XP Pro on my machine.

Been reading on Longhorn forever. I remember that two years ago they said that it will not be a big improvement, but rather something minor over XP. Currently, doesn't sem to be a huge leap forward in any kind of technology, but WinFS and some stuff is promising. And damn, this thing will want some resources!

And I know many peopl who have it already .

More pointless resource-devouring eye-candy is not what this OS needs.

At least the file system sounds interesting. I'm just wondering how much DRM stuff will be integrated with it.
