She was a whiny ***** who got higher grades than was mathematically possible for any other student due to the fact that she didn't have to take PE, and got to stay at home with a tutor (which is an enormous advantage).
Also, her claimed medical impairments appear to be a fraudulent method of having gained this advantage.
So her first mistake was to lie about her condition for profit. Her second was to steal other's ideas. Her third was to draw attention to herself.12-17-10 Mohamed Bouazizi NEVER FORGET

Rather, we admit that because she had an easier class schedule, thanks to a pseudo-"condition" she had marginally higher grades than someone who had to tackle the "regular" course load, and when a move was made to reward both "strata" of course loads, she b*tched about it, and later, it came back to bite her in the a$$.

This reminds me of something that happened with David Cash, a student accepted to UC Berkeley in 1997.
During the summer before he attends college, he was with a friend in Vegas. His friend sexually assaulted and killed a little kid in a bathroom stall while he waited outside the stall, fully knowing what his friend was doing. Although he himself had done nothing illegal, naturally people were outraged when they heard of his gross indifference in the situation, for he had no reason to expect violence from his friend at the time.
So, when word got out this guy was coming to Berkeley, there were mass protests in front of the administration building to reject this guy's admission. The school, however, had no legal grounds to do that. When Cash (a nuclear engineering major :0 !!!) arrived on campus that fall, he was picketed by hundreds of angry students demanding him to leave and had to be protected by the cops. Over time pressure on him to get out dropped off, and he himself didn't do anything bad either, and for all practical purposes has disappeared from the map.Visit First Cultural Industries

I agree with GePap... she deserved to be sole validictorian. You don't change the rules in the middle of a school year. It's just wrong
. It doesn't matter that she could have gotten a higher GPA, that's the way the rules work, and then they changed them in the middle of the game, because she was going to win.
It stinks ALL around, not just on the girl.“I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”

Hmm, I guess the fact that a court of law found her side to be the valid one and awarded her a victory does not matter, no? What the heck do you people base your claims that her disease is "funny" besides your own prejudices?
That the suit brought out all toher info, yes, did come and bite her in the ass: that does not change the validity of her case, given that the School system tried to change the rules mid-term.If you don't like reality, change it! me

i agree that changing the rules mid-year was a bad idea. the girl should have ended up valedictorian.
on the other hand, the girl's "medical condition" seems bogus, and she abused the system, so she deserved what she got.
the reason why i have no pity for her and am glad she's reaping the disfavor she's sowed is because she decided to sue a school! for 2 million +!
just because she can't be valedictorian, a useless award, she's going to shaft and fvck every other student's education potential? i'm glad she's getting this brought down upon her head.B♭3

I hate it when students use every little problem they have to get "exceptions" in classes they suck at. I have ADHD, I don't F*CKING want help! I think most of this special ed crap is to prop the grades of dumb people up to make thier schooll look better. There will be a lot more of this because of Bush's "No Child left Behind" Act, they will prop up grades to make sure they don't get thier funding stolen.
I have no pity to someone who sues a school for that much money and takes advantage of an exagerated medical condition to skip PE, serves that b@stard right, NO HARVARD FOR YOU!!!

Gepap: Nope....doesn't matter to me one bit. Do you think the courts would DARE rule against a "poor little girl with her crippling disability--erm...no, physically challenged....we must use PC terminology whenever possible-- Good god, you think a stink was raised over the status of her valedictorianship? It would have been tied up in the courts for YEARS had the verdict gone the other way! The quickest, most expedient solution was to give the little whiney $%&$%# her way and save the taxpayers a lot of money.
And, having read everything I could put my hands on about the case and her "condition" yes...it's bull****e. She deserves about as much "special consideration" as I do (which is to say....NONE).
As to changing the rules in mid-stream....given that there were two "categories" of course-loads (regular and diet), I disagree that they were trying to take anything away from her....rather, they were attempting to acknowledge the fact that there was indeed a double standard in their system. She won, using her courseload, and the other kid won, using a different one.
No biggie....until she made it so.
Personally, I'm glad it came back to haunt her.

That would be much akin to the featherweight boxing champion suing the boxing federation cos he's not the "only" champion....DAMN that heavyweight guy! How DARE he try and call himself champion!
Different courseload = different category and classification. Heavyweight....Lightweight. Both can have belts. Not something to lose a lot of sleep over.

Bull****. It seems the people on your side (and I'm not making you an exception) are full of bile and thinks she should get screwed in everyway.
It is much more akin to there being only ONE Boxing championship, but as the tournament progresses, the one guy that people don't like is winning, so they decide to instead have more than one championship in the middle of the tourney.
Instead of Boxing Champion of the World, now we'll have Heavyweight and Lightweight.
The vitrol is too much. I bet that if someone changed the rules on you in the middle of something you'd be crying foul from Hell to highwater, but this girl is wrong to? Suuure
.

Yes, they've done it before.
The quickest, most expedient solution was to give the little whiney $%&$%# her way and save the taxpayers a lot of money.
This would only be something that sways the decision to a moron who has no clue how the legal system works.
they were attempting to acknowledge the fact that there was indeed a double standard in their system.
THEY CHANGED THE RULES IN THE MIDDLE OF THE SCHOOL YEAR! I don't give a damn if there was a double standard. You can't do that!“I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”

I think people are offended by the dies that she would get the validectorian spot (even though I have ye to see anyone anywhere post info that her condition was fake in some way: given that most people here do not know her and are not her doctor, I have not seen conclusive evidence they can point to to make that claim), so when the gril had the "gaul" to sue when she thought she was wronged (hey, look at that, a free court system boo!), we must destroy her!
Now, yes, the amount of damages she asked for was absurd, and yes, if she plagerized anything, she must suffer the consequences for that, but I have to agree Imran that the vitrol is so absurd, it can only be caused cause this case must in some way hit too many people here close to home, or gets to clsoe to some pet peeve, so they can;t do anything like, i don;t know, argue straight. If you don't like reality, change it! me

i'm not offended that she got the top spot.
i'm offended that she thought it was worth suing over. it's not. really. it's useful for one thing, and that's for getting a speech at your graduation. nothing else in one's life depends on being valedictorian.
yes, the school system was wrong. they really should have changed the rules before the year started, or after the year ended. not in the middle of the year--that was unfair.
so she sued and won. it was a pyrrhic victory, though, and i don't pity her. she was named valedictorian, she got that. but she wasn't able to go to the only place where being valedictorian mattered; she's become a pariah in her hometown; she's lost her harvard seat; she's become despised by a huge number of people. but she's valedictorian, and 2.7 million richer. i wonder if she thinks it was worth it.
what it boils down to is that i have zero respect for her because of her lawsuit. if she had merely asked to be left as the sole valedictorian, i would have thought it stupid, but not morally bankrupt and offensive. she passed the limit when she asked for 2.7 million dollars from a school district for "mental suffering". school systems are not rich, not even in hoity-toity majority-rich white suburbs. school systems cannot afford to pay out 2.7 million dollars in a lawsuit and then manage to provide a decent education for its students.
the vitriol is there, and i don't care too much for it. i know why i dislike her, and why i find this karmic.B♭3
