According to CNN, she only has partial amnesia.
"Jessica Lynch is suffering from a form of memory loss that prevents her from recalling details from the time she was ambushed in Iraq to a point during her captivity there"

"One Pentagon source said Lynch has told her debriefers that she doesn't remember the ambush and that she finally came to in the Iraqi hospital where she was eventually rescued."

So she didn't get amnesia from being in the hospital.

That's how they found out about Lynch's location from a person claiming to be outraged by her treatment.
The doctors say they tried to transfer Lynch to the US side, but their ambulance was shot. So they say they made an effort.

The person that told the Americans where Lynch was just walked to the camp. That doesn't seem like it would have been to hard for the doctors to do.

I didn't say she got anmesia from the hospital. but some people have claimed there has been no mistreatment of the POW's by the Iraqis, and those who said there was were lying.

Would someone who was treated fairly have amnesia? It is possible, if she wasn't a strong minded person.

In any case partial amnesia is the most common form. Full amnesia is very rare. In most cases it is from people blocking out only certain painful events.

It's understandable that the doctors did not make a second attempt after being shot at while travelling in an ambulance. Telling the US troops about Lynch is one thing, but why get yourself killed for no reason.

Ya, and what she is blocking out is the ambush and seeing her comrades die in combat. That's understandable for someone who is not trained for combat. Information overload.

Since she was injured during the fight, she probably passed out from the pain. Next thing she knows she wakes up in a hospital.

There's nothing really sinister about what happened. Seems perfectly understandable.

                uhh yeah OK

Everyone who goes through army boot camp is trained for combat. She carries a gun as well, so I have to assume she was trained for that.

how can you train to see your buddies die in combat? Is there something men in combat units train to do and those who don't train to do? Our troops may do lots of excersizes, but these were green troops that have never seen any combat.

And women are generally regarded as having stronger minds than men, and better able to deal with more emotional pain. So I can't buy the fact she couldn't take it because she was a woman not trained for combat.

Now I would buy your story if she didn't have such extensive injuries. She is still in pain today. How did she end up with so many broken bones? Not all of those are from gun or knife wounds. Some sort of blunt object must have caused that. Not a normal item used in combat.

Why do I get the sneaking suspician you are trolling here.

I bet you are one of those people who doesn't believe the female in the first gulf war who said she was sexually abused by the Iraqis.

And I'm sure you believed Jane Fonda's assertation that american POW's were treated well in Vietnam as well.

Space is big. You just won't believe how vastly, hugely, mind- bogglingly big it is. I mean, you may think it's a long way down the road to the chemist's, but that's just peanuts to space.

                        I do.

But concerning Jessica the blonde. Their seems to be no hard evidence for a mistreatment yet. Rationality implies, it would have been very stupid for anyone in that hospital to mistreat her, because defeat of Iraq was a 100% certain. Expcept for people with nothing to lose.

Amnesia or any other psychologial scar from combat expirience ? -> It is common by strong men, why shouldn't strong women have to deal with the same consequences ?

Bottom line -> No one can say she has been mistreated, no one can say not. It's all speculation. But -> In dubio pro reo.

We can tell that your theories have been ripped to shreds when you're making these ludicrous claims.

Diss: You're going to have to wake up to the fact that despite all you have been told, the Iraqis are not all bloodthristy thugs who want to torture POWs, rape female soldiers and eat American babies.

Ya, some of the Iraqis are thugs, but probably most Iraqis are decent human beings, just like some Germans were Nazi scum while many were decent.

Ya really got to see through the propaganda.

what makes you think I listen to propaganda?

I never said that all Iraqis are all bloodthirsty thugs. I merely suggested that all those broken bones sounds suspicious to me, and there is a very good possiblility she was tortured while detained.

Following up on something Dissident wrote on the other thread. He wrote:

"How exactly did they say it went down?... I never heard any report of shots being fired."

The initial news reports said the special forces had to fight their way into the hospital compound and fight their way out. That was written because of what Centcom said.

In an April 2 briefing, Brig. Gen. Vincent Brooks, Central Command's deputy chief of operations, said:

"There was not a fire fight inside of the building, I will tell you, but there were fire fights outside of the building, getting in and getting out."

That was on April 2. The US government then started dodging the question of whether shots were fired. Here's a BBC interview with Deputy Assistant Secretary Whitman. Whitman refuses to answer a simple question.

Q: Was there any resistance as the forces were going in?

Whitman: "I think that I will leave that story to be told in great detail when the time is right. ... we still have two soldiers who are missing and we may be using some of the same tactics, techniques and procedures for future operations... when the true story comes out, it will be fascinating. It is premature right now."

Q: Because you know that the Washington Post is reporting that the actual events did not necessarily correspond to the events as filmed.

Whitman: I understand that there is some conflicting information out there and in due time the full story will be told, I’m sure.

The Department of Defense is America's largest government agency. With our military tracing its roots back to pre-Revolutionary times, the department has grown and evolved with our nation.

Interesting eh. On April 2, they tell the world that there were firefights. On April 18, after the Washington Post ran a story questioning what took place there, they say no comment.

And this BS about "it is premature" to talk about it.

                              Someone's lying.

well the general was wrong. I've been in the military and let me tell you snafu's happen all the time. hence the name snafu.

I can't say for sure if he intentionally mislead the media or just made a mistake. Often intel doesn't go up the chain of command properly.

If he did indeed mislead the media and public then shame on him.
