          oops

I guess we should remember more often... perhaps it would have helped in Bosnia or Rwanda...

May I recommend taking a look at this and, in terms of the world today, this. Humanity may not be able to prevent another holcaust from happening in the future, but we will be damned if we don't try to. And the first step to stopping it is the spread of information and knowledge.

I agree. The 0 step is forcing news about these stuff on people, so they are free not to act, but can't say they (we) didn't know.

Human stupidity never stops, but that's just another reason to try to keep on trying to fight it...

Oh and by the way, so people don't think I'm Jewish like they thought I was gay on that other thread , I'm not Jewish but a huge chunk of my friends are, last year for the yom hashoah reading a friend showed up with a page of family members who'd died in the holocaust to read off

                        lol @ vetlegion.

Btw, I think Israel is the only country with a nation wide siren for commemorance days.

We have two such days: Holocaust and Struggle Remembrance Day (which is today) and Day of Commamorance for Israeli War Casualties (which is a week from now, the day before our independance day).

There is a siren in the morning and in the evening for each such day. The siren is 2 minutes long. It is sounded through the siren warning system used for air attack alerts, all over the country, and is broadcasted through the media.

During the siren all the people stop and silently stand in respect for those who died. It's completely amazing that a whole country absolutely stops. The hospitals, airports, army, malls, roads. Cars stop on roads and people get out and stand in respect.
