    It's better than there being deadly violence.

    Look, you know my position on the war itself, but now that we're engaged, the number one goal should be to protect the lives of as many people as possible, ours and theirs. Allowing pro-Saddam demonstrations when the war isn't even over is just plain stupid and asking for trouble we don't want.

      The article mentions nothing of deadly violence. It was just a celebration, and if someone threw a stone or whatever, then we should come in. We occupy the city, it would be pretty easy.

        The Baathist party was clearly engaged in a variety of illegal and immoral activity. It is completely correct to limit support of illegal activity in any society.

        Fez's arguments are right on.

        Somebody please wake up Tass.

          And, just as in labor union deals, we'll give them all a 6 week cooling down period before discussions are held.
          Does that mean we send labor unionists back to their houses not to speak out against us until the six weeks are up? No......

          You are a liar... a complusive liar. If you want to play Iraqi Information Minister, you did a very good job at it. Mr. Sahaf.
          More ad hominems

          And I'm simply playing on your metaphor. But your comment obviously tells me I'm doing a good job in my study of the tactics of the Soviet Union, America, and China when it comes to propaganda

            Tassadar = Apolyton's [Dis]Information Minister

            You are full of propaganda. Maybe you should study more about Sahaf because you are just like him. Your argument is full of holes and BS.

              They supported SADDAM HUSSEIN.....They supported a person, not an action. Therefore, they supported no illegal thing.

              And even then, millions of Americans support illegal activities within their own country.....Freedom of Speech again.

                        But I'd much rather sit in a compound and be bombed by Israeli shell tanks.....and then become a myartr

                              It looks like the contest is about over since Tass just volinteered to be bombed by the Israeli Army.

                                A silly move by the Americans, but quite understandable, given the heat of the moment. Free speech is not an end in itself, it's way of ensuring responsible government. The Iraqis can say what they want, but it will have no effect on the governing of their country.
