U.S. Wants to Shut Down UN Controls on Iraq's Oil

In the main, the resolution would end U.N. control over the lucrative oil-for-food program. Currently Iraq's oil revenues go into a U.N. escrow fund from which suppliers of food, medicine and a host of civilian goods are paid.

The new measure, according to U.N. diplomats familiar with the U.S. proposal, would create a development fund with oil revenues and give the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund some oversight duties.
So the US appears to be unable to wait any longer to get its hands over Iraqi oil. Not surprising at all.

What? The US wants the oil in the region?! Since when?!

The UN gets billions of that money annually to oversee the program. Give me billions and I'll oversee it. Oil for food isn't supposed to be "lucrative". The UN is corrupt, the reason for having an oil for food program has gone the way of Saddam. So should the sanctions once the French and Russians realize that they can't keep their fingers in the Iraqi pie.

Its ok when its the UN even though its corrupt and France gets all the best oil deals, but as soon as the US tries to get its share for liberating the region and allowing oil to flow freely again its evil ??
Learn to overcome the crass demands of flesh and bone, for they warp the matrix through which we perceive the world. Extend your awareness outward, beyond the self of body, to embrace the self of group and the self of humanity. The goals of the group and the greater race are transcendant, and to embrace them is to acheive enlightenment.

I think the Iraqi's should be as happy as pigs in slop.
In fact, overall, I think they are.

The U.S. oil companies are no doubt the happiest of all and I think they need to pay or the war now right off the top of any deals that are made.I don't see that happening they think they gave a ample excuse for siezing that oil and now the only help they ll offer will be to make them look like great humanitarians.Yippy!!

What a perfect little scheme, invade a country and squeeze them for reparations.

C'mon Euros, if the U.S. really wanted war for oil, we'd be in Venezuela instead of Iraq.

                            Good idea!

Iraq's development will be tied to their oil. They'll need to be able to sell it on the open market so their country earns some cash.
