            • Noosland Defense Budget

              Population: 1.4 billion
              GDP per capita*: $27,500
Defense expenditure (2.5% of GDP): $962.5 billion

After a relentless drive to reform and modernise its military for the last three decades, Noosland is proud to announce that its armed forces are some of the most advanced, if not the most advanced, in the world.

              * - this is distinctly different from the NS rating as I have explained elsewhere. This also takes into account that Noosland relies many on fusion power, boosting the productivity several folds over the NS stats.

              • Assuming you're persisting in your claim that NS is biased against socialsit nations... all I have to say is, do we have to go through this again? There are many, many examples of socialsit nations in NS with highly successful economies, and there are definite strategies for achieving that status, which can be easily found if you want to look.

First of all, the program is screwed up. I had re-enabled companies, and tax has been cut below 50%. Still, the program tells me businesses are illegal So whatever strategies there would be, they wouldn't work. Secondly, the issues are random, rendering any stretagies iffy at best.

There's absolutely no need to legalise private enterprise to create a successful economy. Look at Upper Arandia (one of my nations) - it has a Powerhouse economy, even tough it's banned private enterprise and given workers pay raises every time they've asked. The two key things to do are to implement tarrifs and subsidise the auto industry (although if you've banned cars, the latter won't work, and the former is a bit iffy... which is why it's a abd idea to ban cars). Revitalising the private sector can speed things up, but it's entirely unnecessary.

I don't think you will get the "subsidise auto industry" issue after you outlaw businesses.

Anyway, if that's all it takes for a good economy, there is some serious problem with the program.

Well, you do - it doesn't disappear without private enterprise, because the issue is about people protesting against cars, and a centralised economy doesn't change much about that...

There are other things that can be done to get a good economy (like allowing mining, letting workers be fired easily, eating the national animal, etc), but those help, and they allow socialist nations to develop without compromising their ideology.
