The sole purpose of aircraft carriers is to project power. A nation does not need aircraft carriers unless it wants to deploy an offensive fleet.

Well I view just sitting around waiting for your enemy to come and attack you is not a good defense. You have to take the war to their home territory. Also their has been a lot of unrest in our region and the aircraft carriers have helped a lot. We also have allies to defend too, and aircraft carriers can help to that end. SO there are many reasons why we have air craft carriers.

How do you get these stats?

We make them up really. Well what I do is base them on my population, and how many troops I would have during peace time, so for population of 260 mill(which is my pop) I have about 1.5 million troops. Also for the buget you just take you tax rate and come out with a good average salary for your people and find how much taxes they pay and times that by your population and you get your total buget. It is up to you how much you spend on the millitary.

I think we just find them cool and don't really understand the dynamics of naval power. I don't really know much about naval tactics for things above triremes.
