Up to now, Pasiphae and Falangusta have agreed upon participating in my tournament. The tournament will be played in Wernopolis, the final will be held the "Petzi-Stadion" in my capitol Matz.
We warmheartedly invite other nations to join in, it would be a great test before a real competition starts.

Altough we lost to Falangusta 6 - 4 (yeah, it was a goalfest), we would be glad to join in.

The Kingdom of Wine would like to join in the Wernopolis tournament, as we believe it would be a great preparation for the soon to come AFA Cup

              OOC:
I have thought of a way on how to play matches,
              that's my idea:
Every team start with a strenght statistic, which could be something between:
First Time Team, Very Weak, Weak, Unexperienced, Normal, Experienced, Good, Very Good, Strong, World Power.

To each strenght level we assign a number of dice, example:
              First Time Team: 2 dice
              Very Weak: 3 dice
              Weak: 4 dice
              Unexperienced: 5 dice
              Normal: 7
              Experienced: 9
              Good: 10
              Very Good: 11
              Strong: 12
              World Power: 14

Every time that in a dice roll, someone get a five or a six, he score a goal.

              What do you guys think?

Giovanni : I completely agree with you
We still have to know what makes a team progress (maybe some dice rolls ?)

Well, here's my system (it's very complicated, I told you!):

                    There's 11 different strengths
Some examples for teams (please don't argue right now if I guessed exactly):
1 Brazil (World Power in top shape)
                    2 England, Spain (World power)
                    3 Portugal, Turkey, Cameroon
                    4 Belgium, USA
                    5 Peru, Austria
                    6 Hungary, Costa Rica
                    7 Belarus, Saudi Arabia
                    8 Cyprus, Guatemala
                    9 Färöer, Pakistan
                    10 Taiwan, Malta
                    11 San Marino, Maledives, Vanuatu

Each team gets to roll a die for each half time, but which die it may roll depends on its relative strength to the other team. Waht "Which die" you ask? I have different dice at home: 4 sided (pyramid shaped, called d4), 6 sided (d6), 8, 10, 12 and 20.

Here's the table to determine which team may use which die:

                    Diff. 1st half 2nd half
                    strong team/weak team
                    -0 d6/d6 d6/d6
                    -1 d6/d6 d6/d4
                    -2 d8/d6 d8/d6
                    -3 d8/d6 d8/d4
                    -4 d8/d4 d8/d4
                    -5 d8/d4 d10/d4
                    -6 d10/d4 d10/d4
                    -7 d10/d4 d12/d4
                    -8 d12/d4 d12/d4
                    -9 d12/d4 d20/d4
                    -10 d20/d4 d20/d4

The home team always gets a +1 bonus; when playing both abroad, the stronger team gets it in the first half, the weaker in the second half,

The following table indicates how many points rolled mean how many goals:

                    1-3: 0
                    4-5: 1
                    6-7: 2
                    8-11: 3
                    12-15: 4
                    16-18: 5
                    19: 6
                    20: 7

Finally, there's an additional rule: 4, 6, 8, 12 and 16 are one goal less, if the die of the enemy shows an odd number.

                    Some examples:

Brazil (1) vs. Austria (5): -4 ratio, Brazil hosting

                    1st half: Brazil rolls d8 and gets 5 (+1=6), Austria a d4 and gets 2. --> 2-0
If Austria had got a 3, it would be 1-0, because 6 is only 2 goals if the enemy rolls an even number.
                    2nd half: Brazil rolls d8 and gets 3 (+1=4), Austria with d4 a 4 --> 1-0
Sounds stupid, but true: if the home team gets 3 and the away team 4, it's still 1-0 for the home team.
Why? Because of the home bonus, 3 counts as 4, yet the home team gets the goal counted, because the away team rolled an even number, while the away team doesn't get it because the home team rolled the odd "3"...

                    Every clarity eliminated?

By playing a certain number a games you can advance to experienced. However to get past that, you must 'develop' a player. To do this, you roll two dice, and must get two sixes. If you do so, you advance to the next level. Ifyou don't you go down a level. (note, you can only develop players once you reach experienced level)

                          There's one issue yet.

The fans of Pasiphae have a bad reputation for being a bit extreme and also Matzanian fans are often behaving very provocative. Luckily, both nations are playing in different groups but we'd like to cooperate with Pasiphae police forces in this issue.
To the government of the Kingdom of Wine I have to say clearly that public nudity is forbidden in Matzania and that those who descend from the plane naked will be detained and have to pay a high fee. We advice you to make this fact clear to your tifosi, there will be no exceptions.

                            To: Matzania

We will send a few policemen in between our tifosi so that they will be able to keep their nudity in check.

                            Thanks for forward advising us.

We hope that both our teams will be able to meet again in the final.

EDIT: By the way... how do we assign each of team a strenght level?.... should we go with a dice?

I thought about that one too. I think we should all start as level 4 or 5 nations. I'll roll a die for every nation that participates to decide which, is this OK? Matzania is automatically level 5, nobody shall say that I favor my own country.

We still have to think about a mode how a team can get better or worse. The problem is that even though a bad team wins a few games, it may still be a bad team, who had a bit luck or whose opponents just had a "bad day"...

When I die-rolled championships, I had no rule for this, but rather judged roughly. When a bad team (strength 6) beats a Nr.1 team, or any odd result (2 very high losses/victories in a row), I rolled a die and there was a 50% chance that the team got stronger/weaker. Yet, I don't have a system for that.
