How does it calculate your nations population? Do issues and acts affect it, or does it just grow over time?

I think it just grows. Mines up to 7 million though, so I'm not complainingSmile

I've been playing for about a week now and my population has more than tripled in that time, from 5 million (granted, not a high number to begin with) to 16 million Is it growing this rapidly for others as well or am I just a brilliant leader?

Everyone starts from 5 Million. From there, growth is based on your country's politics, the time it has been around, and the edicts that you issue, just like Osweld said. If you're kind, or don't allow people to leave the country, expect rapid growth.Veni Vidi Castravi Illegitimos

Okay, didn't know everyone started with 5 million - I've seen countries with like 200 million pop (), so I figured that that was pretty unlikely...
Hmmm, rather odd since my Political Freedoms and Civil Rights were until today Outlawed and my Economy was Imploded in the first 5 days (now Basket Case)...
Oh well, everybody wants to join the Collective... (and even if you don't want to: resistance is futile )

I think population is based solely on time, as my friend and I have very different politics, but both our nations populations have grown at the same rate.
From 5-10 million, it grows in increments of 1 million, 10-20 is 2 million, and so on, so it seems.
