The time limit for us to respond to Boondi has passed, and we refuse to accept their conditions. We are continuing to evacuate our citizens from Eastern Catherin and the military are bunkering down in the Eastern sections...

We will not surrender to this Evil Force to the South ....

At the stroke of 9.45pm local time after waiting the stipulated period, the 1st and 2nd Squadron from the 1st Aviation Regiment mobilised along with the 2nd Old Blue SAS regiment. Within minutes of take off the SAS were landing on the eastern outskirts of Catherin. Their objective to recon the city for hostile troops, locate strategic locations to set up control points and relay information back to forward control so the can start to co-ordinate the infantry insertion. The 2nd Squadron encountered slight resistance from the air but with the Squadron at full strength the AH-64A/D Apache helicopters had target acquisition weapons deployed before the hostile aircraft were able to return fire. No ground resistance was encountered in the air from east Catherin.

At approximately 1.00am after receiving West Apolyton’s deceitful reply, Boondi mobilised its Defence Force.

At approximately 3.45am the 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th Battalions of the 2nd Brigade were mobilised and with the support of 5th and 6th Squadrons of the 3rd Aviation Regiment.
The troop’s objective is to secure a perimeter around eastern Catherin in an arc approximately 5 km from the city. The remaining elements of the 2nd Brigade are in route via Road and land. No resistance was encountered in the region immediately east and north east of Catherin.

Boondi will not stop or detain any civilian elements fleeing the city. However any remaining civilians should evacuate the disputed area immediately.

The remaining elements of the 2nd Division and the 3rd Division are currently on alert status and ready to move at a moments notice.

The 4th, 5th and 6th Divisions have been deployed to Boondi’s Western border. As well as 6 SAM Batteries. This is merely a precautionary measure. Boondi does not want trouble from Guardinia, but we will defend ourselves from foreign intervention. Boondi has halted any border crossings between Guardinia and Boondi. Any air traffic, or land border crossings will be considered hostile and we will take action.

Boondi’s Air Bases are on their highest alert status.

Major Peterson was seen running down the hall, he bumped past the secretaries he usually flirted with, and went helter skelter straight into the Chiefs Office.

Wit hone look the General realsied something was up. He pressed his intercom for silence and all doors were locked.

The major spoke hurriedly and handed over some paper work to the general who then swore and slammed his fist down hard.

He picked up his phone and pressed the Red button on the side and was immediatly answered on the other end "Code Red Alpha Delta Zulu" he said into the phone. He then inserted the paperwork into the fax machine and sent them, Electronics scanned his voice for recognition pattens before the person on the other end answered. "Get here now !!!!"

                  OOC:

Ack! We clearly need to spend more on our military. But first we need to fix our economy some more...

Good thing we have allies, otherwhise we'd be very far stretched indeed...

Actually, I believe the real number of people in the Guardinian military is just slightly over half of what the calculator comes up with. Guardinia tends to favor equipment and training over sheer numbers.

                    The Octagon
                    Ciudad de Karakas

At the Octagon's main command center (which was not, as many people believed, at the middle of the building), General Eric Jensen's hotline from the Rose Tower rang. It was the President, as it always was. They spoke for several minutes. Then General Jensen hung up and walked out of the room.

He moved purposefully through the hallways. It was late at night, and most of the civilian employees had gone home. Only spies, die-hard military planners, and bachelors were here at this hour. And, of course, General Jensen, as the supreme commander. (It didn't hurt that his apartment was five minutes walk from the Octagon's front door.)

At the far end of the Octagon was a room full of telephones. General Jensen picked up one, and made a call to Guardinia . . .
Everything changes, but nothing is truly lost.

OOC: At the moment, about a quarter to a third of Guardinia's military forces are engaged in Azan, including just over half the navy and a good 60% of the air force. The air force, however, are mostly flying out of their own home bases and can be "switched around" pretty easily. The same goes for various support and logistics crews that are supporting units in Azan from their home bases. Some of them may be able to also support other operations, but we can not stop supporting the units in Azan until we withdraw them.

Guardinia's navy and air force are pretty large and modern, comparable to the US in real life (for a nation more than 10 times the size in terms of population).
The army is relatively small for a nation of Guardinia's size, but it's well equipped, highly mobile and packs a powerful punch. Their most significant weakness is that they can't be everywhere at once and can get stretched pretty thin at times. At the moment, there are regions along the border to Boondi where we have battallions covering areas that some strategical analysts would consider too wide for brigades...

                      Edit: Fixed a typo.

GNN Headline News - Naval exercises underway on Guardinia's east coast

Elements of the Guardinian Navy today began what appears to be the opening moves of a large joint forces exercise in Guardinian and international waters near the border to Boondi. Officials refused to comment, saying they would issue a statement at a later time. More details in our 6 o'clock broadcast...

[OOC: Don't have much more time to work on this today, but it is a start... Any and all allies of Guardinia are welcome to join the exercise at any time.]

In responce to the Guardinian "Exercise" Boondi has sent elements of its own Navy to observe the Joint Forces Exersise.
Boondi has also contacted the Guardinian government for clarification of the exercise area as the scale of the one shown is too small for accuracy. Boondi does not want to encroach on the exercise area uninvited.

President Jesaulenko sat in his office when General Kernahan came in with a more than smug look on his face. “What is it Steve.”
“Sir the Infantry elements of the 2nd Brigade have reached the outskirts of Catherin and are currently advancing into the suburbs. At this stage they have encountered no resistance.” “Good, what of the ‘Old Blue Boys’”. “Well Sir that is the main reason I’m here, they have secured the main road on the border of Guardinia and Western Apolyton. They encountered pockets of resistance in achieving their objective and have suffered minimal casualties, however it seems Western Apolyton does not wish to surrender this critical access route so easily and are engaging our troops now.” “Alright, send the 1st SAS squadron, currently in the northern mountains into assist. And I want the 3rd and 4th Brigades ready to move in and secure a perimeter behind the 2nd Brigade. We don’t want them flanking us from the east. Leave the 1st Brigade in the northern mountains for the time being and send in Divisional Support Engineers to finishing digging in the Artillery Batteries and Tank Squadrons.” “O.k. Sir will that be all.” “One last thing. What is happening with Guardinia and that Naval Exercise on our south eastern boarder.” “You’ll have to talk to Admiral Bradley on that one Sir, but I believe he has some elements with FO’s onboard in the area to observe what’s going on.” “Thanks Steve that will be all.”

Details on the exact location and extent of the exercise area have been released to the general public, including all governments.

Guardinia welcomes Boondi observers and might even invite a few to literally "come inside" if our allies agree.

The government offices were in turmoil. Files in the central records office were being shredded at max speed.

"We must never let the world see these papers" said Corporal Jane Doe to her assistant Private Jonnie Dear.

"Orders from on high state this is priority A1"

The young private stooped to read a few words on the paper " What does all this mean ?"

"You shouldnt have read that Jonnie!" said Jane and pulled out a silenced pistol and shot her. The sheet she had been reading slipped out of her hand and floated to the floor.

The words read ..." this agreement supercedes all other agreements and places the new border 45 miles to the north of current borders, Boondi an Western Apolyton agree to the rightful ownership of Boondi on these mountain slopes...."

Jane smiled as she placed it into the Shredder and follwoed it with the bank account records of one ex President of Boondi , John Ellliot, the accounts detailed secret payments occuring shortly after the last war between their coutnries.
