      Actually, you're quite wrong.
In Al Mastif, people don't actually earn money, as such.
They're given coupons for all of their basic requirements, which are only redeemable at Al Mastifi companies.
In addition, it is a treasonous offence to be employed by, or associate with, a non-Mastifi company without governmental permission, which makes it very hard for foreign companies to make a profit in Al Mastif.

Oh, and I don't employ Auldoninnans.
      They're so unreliable.

        Hello!?

My name is Fyrdich Aktabi and this is my camel, ‘pepe’.

We are here to represent the native peoples of what we have long called the Khatatahakar Desert. We would like to protest this imperialistic interference in our native lands and threat to our way of life. Each morning myself and ‘pepe’ in accordance with our peoples traditions walk the eleven miles from the sand mounds amongst which we dwell to the local oasis to fetch water for the day. Now however the 104 freeway from the port to the oil fields nearby has been placed in the way of our morning path, forcing us to dodge the morning commute to get our water. There are times when the fumes of the petrol and the lack of water have caused me to hallucinate strange things. I once saw a field of one hundred flawless maidens that turned out to be part of a discarded tire and on three occasions ‘pepe’ has spoken to me on varied subjects.

We have hereby declared a holy war against the imperialist colonial business interests that desecrate our relatively worthless geography with their tools of repression they call freeways. We shall bring now several nice palm sized rocks to throw at commuters until such time as this exploitation ceases. You will find that I am not the lone voice of dissent in the lands of the endless sun, there are in fact ten maybe twelve of us. We will not stop until the imperialist cerooian puma-fanciers shudder at the thought of their morning drive to this den of adultery they call starbucks.

So ‘pepe’ has spoken and so shall it be.

I guess you're not interested, then, in opening a couple of branches of Karakas Fried Chicken (KFC ). Can we reach an agreement? Maybe have them serve some recipe variations with desert spices, and combo coupons for the Tooled-Up Sultan and the Tooled-Up Harem and Tooled-Up Courtiers?

Look, if they're capable enough to ditch their electronic trackers, somehow make it past the satellite surveillance systems, avoid armoured patrols and aircraft, (depending upon the location) survive in the desert and/or cross numerous minefields and survive overseas without any foreign languages, then they're probably earning quite a bit (not including earnings via corruption), and have no real reason to escape.

Why all the security, you may ask?

                    Meh. Who cares, anyway.
I've got oil fields off the East of the map.
That's right, out of the region...

Yes, and little devils will crawl out of my eyeballs and give us all flowers.
                        Know what, Raspie?
                        I want that oil.
And, since this area obviously isn't part of Auldoninna, I'm going to get it.
