I'd say we declare the Hive home nation to no longer exist, but leave their troops in Azan, under Frankychan's control - this would leave the troops themselves behind, but with no reinforcements or anything. Of course, Franky would be best advised to make peace in any case, but this way would give him a bit more of an edge against everybody who's deployed troops to Azan.

I think it's doable if we stick to strict turns... and certain posters don't get antsy waiting for their turn to come around again.
So... you take your time posting what you want FCL/Hive forces to do, and nobody else posts jack in character (ooc questions/debate/etc in the other thread would be ok) until you put up some [END TURN] tags at the end of one of your posts.
Then the other side posts their all their responses and reactions. Once the last one posts their [END TURN] (or after a set time period), you post again.
Sorry if it's a little too structured, but I think it's the only way we can make this work.~ If Tehben spits eggs at you, jump on them and throw them back. ~ Eventis ~ Eventis Dungeons & Dragons 6th Age Campaign: Chapter 1, Chapter 2, Chapter 3, Chapter 4: (Unspeakable) Horror on the Hill ~

How about a turn limit? Is 24hrs enough for each side?~ If Tehben spits eggs at you, jump on them and throw them back. ~ Eventis ~ Eventis Dungeons & Dragons 6th Age Campaign: Chapter 1, Chapter 2, Chapter 3, Chapter 4: (Unspeakable) Horror on the Hill ~

Im just a newbie and all here, but let me play devils advocate here a bit. Is there some reason that the war is being played out 10 nations to 2? It seems to me that 5-5/6-6 might be a better idea all around.
Most of the big european wars of the last 400 odd years, sides seemed to get chosen less for any political reality and more to ensure the continued balance of power. Countries were less afraid of being on an unpopular moralistic side of things and more afraid of letting any one nation get too powerful.
In the last half-century we've may have seen more of the Falkland Is / Iraq situations. Those kind of actions may make more socio-political sense in the modern world, but from a roleplaying position they really arent going to be as much fun as a more even struggle might be.

Besides, until Lazerus decided to have a temper tantrum, he was the most powerful military power in the region, and it would have required all the forces available to us to beat him.Last edited by GeneralTacticus; May 24, 2004, 04:22.

The second reason sounds like the important one. It was 10-2 because it was going to take the ten of you to give the two a run for thier money. So my question becomes, why have such disparate military strengths? It seems counter productive as wars will almost always have to be 10-2?

GeneralTacticus is correct. Events that played out were like this....Frankychanland invaded Azan, Guardinia and Ceroo were the first to respond. The Hive, gracious in its wisdom, allied with Frankychanland along with Auldonina. Auldonina realized the intentions of Frankychanland (FCL) and instead attacked the Hive and FCL. Other nations realized on what was going on and they, too, sent forces to Azan.
The Hive will always be an ally to Frankychanland!
(but yeah, with the Hive's withdrawal of the region, things are definitely not looking too good for FCL. But we will triumpth!)

Unfortunately, the disparate military strengths were based on the fact that the Hive was always rated as having the largest arms manufacturing sector, &c.
For the record, I might have been tempted to take Frankychan's side, 'cause he's just an all-round nice guy. But then I joined the League of Armed Neutrality, and Centralis and Noosland which are neighbors and past allies of Karakas jumped in against him, and then it would have been awkward to find a reason and a way in . . .Everything changes, but nothing is truly lost.

xiaodave sounds like a reasonable person! From what was discussed, the Hive had the largest military in the region. But with a bunch of nations acting together, it became an even match. Basically, Frankychanland has a smaller military than the Hive, but together our forces are huge....
One on One, we would be ok....not the largest nor the smallest military.Despot-(1a) : a ruler with absolute power and authority (1b) : a person exercising power tyrannically

The League had intended to stay out of things (honest!), but after Frankychan decided to annex Azan outright we put what was left of Azan under League protection (basically one city). Then Azazel showed up and noticed we were fighting over his old country, and took over the roleplay for it...
We should write a history of the conflict when the roleplay wraps up! It can be put in a topped "Regional History" thread so new players don't have to dig through the forum to get all the background details.
