That would be cool if it could be programmed.

    • If number of soldiers can be, why can't this be?

      • Probably it can be. Maybe Rasputin will have a look at it later.

        • Yes it can be done, but i will need information , if someone can give me a breakdown of the USA army, airfiorce navy etc . i can put tha tin as a base then allow people to decide if they are Balanced,
          Navy Strong,
          Airforce strong.

          Should be good,

          • 1. Maybe you can add options for preferences and for circumstances.

Preferences would be straight-forward: emphasize what you want.

Circumstances could be like... island nation increases navy, for example.

            2. Here's a pretty good site to get you started on military numbers, but you might have to navigate a bit to find what you want:

If you need really basic stuff, try wikipedia.

              • One thing you need to consider is a country with a huge military budget is going to suck economically, realistically speaking.

Other than the link posted previously, which was about military strength, in terms of number of soldiers, as % of population, also consider the military budget as a % of GDP.

A national budget of 20% GDP is considered a large government, and a 10% military budget is considered high. And that amounts to 2% of GDP. A 20% military budget is very high and can be sustained only in the short term (say, several years). Otherwise your economy suffers and your country will collapse, just like the former USSR.

So a country with a Frightening economy can only have something like a 0.5% GDP for military budget. Or you won't have a Frightening economy. OTOH, A country with an Imploded economy can spend lots (as percentage of GDP anyway) on the military. Seems paradoxical, but true.

                • For that matter, those military spending figures may very well be why the country's economy is in the stte it is; the Rightening one has spent little, relatively speaking, and thus has been able to grow, while the Imploded is so because too many resources went into the military while the economy collapsed.

                  • i agree with these statements. i have based the numbers that the sheet spits out on the us figures so they are far more realistic and from what i see, america not yet gone broke ....

                        • Actually, the US has by far the largest foreign debt in the world. Theoretically, if the rest of the world decided to get tough and not do any more trading with the US until they repaid what they already owe us, the US would be in some pretty serious trouble.

Realistically though, most of us would be in even bigger trouble, so we sort of just accept that they owe us an awful lot of money and that they get to pay us back when they say so...

                          • The Soviet Union couldn't afford the cold war and eventually collapsed as a result.

The US couldn't afford the cold war either, but they managed to borrow enough money to pull through.

                              • Actually, in reality, one can have a strong military, and not tank financially, simply by not having a good amount of consumer goods. It's possible.
