My view is neither space program nor compulsory military service would have an impact on the size of the standing military. The former means the military has higher technology, thus a greater strength, and the latter means the country could raise troops faster, particularly while defending an invasion.(\__/) 07/07/1937 - Never forget

yeah i wasnt 100% convinced aboiut the space program i will probably remove that . the only reason i see a benifit of comp service is that you will have a much larger group to draw yuor troops from so can maintian the size you want by simply putting them in .. with voluntary armys you may hav eless volunteers than you need.
of course the effectivenes of conscripts is probably lower than of volunteers so probalby cancles out th ebonus of larger forces...
