Brief rundown of the main players in tomorrow's Cerooan elections...
Where 'left' and 'right' are used in the political spectrum sense I'm thinking of 'centre' from a European perspective (which would be considered 'to-the-left' in the US). I'm going to ask friends & messenger contacts who they plan to vote for in the up-coming UK elections, after assigning a RL party to each Ceroo party (although most are loosely based on who's running in my constituency bar the 'Technologists') and determine the result that way...
Liberal Democrats (currently in power)
Not excessive liberals as the name may suggest, by are slightly to the left-of-the-centre (despite trying to be centrist). Main support is on Isla Ceroo which is the most populous island, however their candidate for the election, Elize Tote, aiming to be the first female to become First Minister may not convince apatheic voters to vote for the party. The party has been under pressure recently for 'dragging its heels' over the FCL issue, which it seems the outbound First Minister was reluctant to make a descision himself on.
Minister Tote seems to be all in favour of aiding the Azani peoples by commiting Cerooan forces to their liberation.
Democratic Socialists
Led by outspoken Minister, Phillip Garret (de Cynnon), whose main support comes from Isla Cynnon, which has attracted left-wing politics since the Republic was formed. Highly critical of the governments' support for Guardinia and other foreign policies, if Garret came to power he would likely withdraw Ceroo from the ADU and recall overseas forces. Support for the Democratic Socialist is falling however, since Garret stated that the party would disband the San Antonio council and implement regional assemblies instead.
Minister Garret is fully against any military action in Azani territory.
Conservatives
Minister Nate Morgan from Isla Ceroo is now looking like the forerunner to win the election, as opponents' campaigns faltered, he stepped up a gear. Promises of a return to the years of wealth and prosperity, have insiored the electorate, particulary on Isla d'Ibia (San Antonio Bay) and the upper-middle classes of the other two regions. A right-leaning party, some of the Conservative policies tend to favour big businesses, particularly maritme business, with money promised to be diverted to redevelop the dying docklands in Newport and Dina Ceroo from the Liberal Democrats 'progressive' social policies.
Minister Morgan is in favour of maintaining a strong military presence near Azan, in case any action is required, although he has not been quoted as wishing to help in the liberation.
CI Party
The only other party likely to gain any significant results, the CI party were pro-Emporer in the Imperial Republic, and leader, Minister Edward Ceroo is the nephew of the last (deceased) Emporer. They are also to the right and are very pro-business.
Minister Ceroo is strongly for asserting Ceroo's naval dominance over FCL and assisting in the liberation of Azan.
Green Party
Lefty tree-huggers, very anti-war and anti-business. Minor support on some of the smaller islands.
Communist Party
Far-left socialists would like to see Ceroo as a Maoist-style state. Little support.
Progressive Democrats
Formed by members of the Liberal Democrats and the CI party who were ministers in previous governments. No real support yet, however expected to get at least one seat.
Cerooan Liberals
Theses are the true liberals, the guys who would pass that public nudity issue every time, as it's usually raining in the south west of Ceroo clothes are essential so they have little support.
Technologists
Main policy is to replace multi-lingual Cerooan society with one that communicates entirly in IMish- their campaign slogan is "1337 T3CHN0L0915T5 0WNZ U 0TH4 P4RT135 !!!1111111". No notable support.
CNP (Cerooan National Party)
(NS issues say there's Nazi-sympathizers in the country, so here's their party). Far right, highly in favour of war in Azan for Cerooan gain. Supports fascist Auldoninna's efforts in Azani territory. Only support comes from fanatics.
