Well, the thing is... while you may have jurisdiction over these waters, completely blocking them and threatening to attack anyone who enters would be an act of aggression, not to mention a violation of various international treaties and perhaps a UN resolution or two...

While Guardinia will agree not to station naval forces in these waters, we insist that we have a legitimate right of passage through them.

However, in order to avoid further confrontation during this time of crisis, no further forces will be sent into these waters and the Guardinian naval forces that are currently in this area will move out.

UN resolutions, anyways since when can the UN force you to let other nations into your waters ? If you get Frankychans permission, then you can have scheduled times to pass through the joint controlled waters since traffics abit heavy in that area atm and as a result commanders are very protective of the merchant ships.

Well, technically I guess they can't, but you seem to have thrown your net pretty wide when determining what's "your waters". I guess the Hive just might do that and I'm okay with role playing it, but in the real world, passages like the one between the Hive and Frankychanland would definitely have some sort of international sea lane where nobody would need to ask anyone's permission to run ships through. Anyone interfering with this would literally be accused of piracy, and the US or someone would be getting all pissy about it.

Usually, a sovereign state only actually controls the waters out to 12 nautical miles off its' coast. Beyond that, it's "free for all" unless you've consulted your neighbors and made other arrangements - which I suppose the Hive and Frankychan will say they did...

Guardinia is somewhat pissy about not being consulted since we feel that we too have an interest in those waters, but we're not going to make that much of a fuzz about it at the moment.

Auldonina fully suports the blocking of that passage between FCL and the Hive. If international shipping wants to head west they can sail to the south of FCL/Azan.

In a joint statement made earlier today, the People's Republic of Jonchastan and the Grand Duchy of Basus announced the formation of the League of Armed Neutrality, in reaction to the escalation of tensions in Frankychanland and Former Azan.

Both nations pledged to stay out of the conflict and to defend each other's neutrality. They also pledged to increase medical and other emergency aid for the refugees and other displaced persons of the area. They also called on all the parties involved to withdraw from Azan and hand control over the territory to the Apolyton Court.

Central Committee Co-Chair Augustine Souza (RSP) announced Jonchastan's intention to establish an emergency field hospital in South East Azan, and urged the combatants in the territory allow this much needed humanitarian aid to go ahead unhindered.

In a written statement, the Autonomy Caucus of the RSP questioned the motives of the new alliance, noting that the "League of Armed Neutrality" is not a name that inspires thoughts of peace. According to Souza, the name is simply an indication that the alliance, while steadfast in its neutrality, will not be a passive one.

This way, the three of us get the "spoils-of-war" and piss everyone else off.

Official statement of the Basus government

Basus has send the hospital vessels the "antonie van leeuwenhoek" and the "Freule van westerloo" to Frankychanland/Azan. Both vessels have two trauma helicopters on board. Escorted by a few other navel vessels this detachment of the Basus fleet will aid civilians in the region of crisis.

All action will be coordinated with jonchastan officials. All actions will be under a flag of neutrality only in the best intrest of wounded civilians.

Auldonina fully support the hospital to be based in South eastern Azan and add that we have left plenty of medical asupplies for the locals to use at this facility. No Auldonina Military action is occuring in Azan and will not for the foreseable future, only action is of planes landing and taking off.

This is Arnold Horshack reporting from Auldonina controlled Azan territory. Last night in a surprise raid, Frankychan land troops ambushed an Auldonina Patrol along the great river. 40 Servicemen and women were killed before Helicopters arrived to evacuate them and a patrol of armoured vehicles cleaned up the attacking Frankychan land troops.

President Howard is reported to be contacting Frankychan General as we speak to find out what has occured.

Apparently the Service men and women in Azan HQ under General Hogan are planning mass revenge. Presidnet Howard is urging restraint, but it will take a good explanation to save some form of retaliation.

As the crisis continues on the far side of Apolyton O'ues, Karakas continues to hold itself out of the action, in contrast to its neighbor and traditional ally Centralis.

This, in turn, has fueled rumors on the streets and in the opinion pages of a rift between the two nations.

The establishment has been quick to dismiss such ideas, pointing to the recent joint upgrade of the K-47 Night Hunter fighter-bomber, and to the just-publicized Karakasian special forces intelligence operations in Thudoa.

For the moment, the rumors remain simply that.
