Hmmm....thought the original announcement was that it was simply 'set aside'. I guess only time will tell if it come to fruition, hopefully as RTS as most have disappointed and would like to see more of Sid's influence in the genre.

Set aside, cancelled, postponed ... er, why keep this forum active then? Perhaps Markos and Dan could free up a bit of space by shelving this place until the fate of Sid Meier's Dinosaurs is known for sure? Anyway, I bet Sid's too busy with golf and Civ III to really ever get back to his Dino game.

          Damn gate crashers

Sid doesn't care about Civ III.

            Damn possessive crazy people

From what I remember of what I read, Sid didn't think the dinosaur game that they had was enough fun, so it was shelved until they had a better idea of implementing the game.

            Shame.

I disagree, Civ 3 is fun.
However, Firaxis neglected to finish the game before releasing it.
What with them releasing patches now, the game is nearing its potential. It is fun at the beginning (where Firaxis tested)

I guess the Dinosaurs game wasn't fun at the beginning at all.

                    *Phew*
                    Saved by the . . . dinosaur forum . . .

I would have preferred Dinosaurs to Golf... at least I like dinosaurs

Would have liked to have seen a dinosaur workshop game. Build your own from the feet up and pit them against others in MP action..

                          " hello everybody! "

I was looking forward to Dinos. From what I gathered it was a cross between starcraft and civ. hence the indecision on RTS or TBS.

                            Hey Dr Darknight!!
(sorry, watching Simpsons... Dr Nick joke...)

They could have gone XCom style - have parts of the game realtime and other parts turnbased...
It could work with that Dinosaur Workshop idea.
                            Or maybe not...

Yeah I was thinking Dr Nick too
Ah old Xcom games. Little unintelligible blobs of colour flying across the screen destroying all the cities
