    I had the same problem, and I never did solve it. It's like you can view cargo, but you can't unload it.

      well Davor did hit on something...

      Try renaming the cities you want to trade "A", "A1", "A2" etc. etc. and then you can trade them off.

      There is a definite problem with that sort of thing which has been discussed in detail lately.

        Yes, this would work if it were in alphabetical order, but the list is in chronological order. Almost all the cities on the list are my own created ones, or if not, then are central to my empire.

        The new ones I have conquered, after years of bombing and missile bombardment, are small, insignificant and mostly long distances from my empire, and in the middle of enemy territory, so getting rid of them is an advantage anyway, until I can build up a stronger military to hold onto them.

        I can't disband them because they are too large; I have toyed with the idea of starving them to death until they reach size 3, but they are too valuable a bargaining tool for me to do that.

          Mine work fine when selecting Unload - they come off grouped in the direction you select.

            On the tech chart it says it gives $500. Is this a one time boost? in the great library all it says it gives the host empire a cash influx. I took that as every turn. I built it once and seemed to only get $500 and thats it. Not worth the time to build in my opnion.

            Am I right or wrong?

                  "CTRL-g" is printed on the back cover of the CTP II manual listing keyboard shortcut keys.

                  Like everyone else, I was trying to figure out the science victory. Just for added info, in my game I built 37 satellites and 46 obelisks (on a large map) and still only got an effective radius of 8 from the obelisks. I trtied building more than 10 controllers but the game only recognizes the first 10 and the extras don't seem to help. You can put obelisks, just as with any other public work, in any ALLIED territory as well as your own. I "discovered" that late in the game, and would have been helpful building my road networks seeing as I had 2 Allies.

                    Cheers Darkknight !

                    Installing in Z-drive, how would that work ? The problem is that I get a message something like "CTPII has detected Windows NT 4.0 on your system. CTPII required Windows 95,98 or 2000" which appears before I even have the chance to run the setup or choose where to install it

                    Does anyone else know about this Z drive installation, or any other getaround ?

                    Thanks,

                      • Ming just game be CPT2 for Christmas. I never played the earlier version.

                        I selected the hard setting for the first game and started playing. 100 turns in, it was obvious that I had no clue what I was doing. So I read the manual (wasted effort) and started again. Not much help but as in Civ, the ai developes faster, so just go out and conquer AI cities. But two things are real annoying and I'd love a little help.

                        1. For the life of me, I can't figure out how to make tile improvements. I looked and looked and found nothing. I finally turned on mayors and half my civ was improved like magic. I know I'm missing something basic, but I would really appreciate any help. Please be specific, help a senior today.

                        2. I have an 233 speed machine. (ordering a much faster one tomorrow) I though I was playing civ MP it took so long. It's so slow between turns. It takes forever to open a city screen. Is this normal. What options can I turn off to speed it up? I can take a nap in the time it takes to start the game and load up a saved game.

                        Thanks for any help.

                          "->" is the shovel (public works) icon. (some people think it looks like a hammer). The amount of public works you have is displayed here.

                          [------]
                          [------]
                          [------]
                          [------] represents the inset global map.

                          "QQ"
                          "QQ" - represents the clock-like feature with icons for army, empire, city production, etc.

                          ^^^^^ represents the tabs for frankly I forget exactly what, (Empire, Units, ???, PWs) but one of them accesses public works. Each one actually looks more like:

                          ::________::
                          :/::::::::\:
                          /::title?::\

                          (pretend the colons are spaces)

                          or maybe it has an icon. I haven't played for a week -- waiting for the WesW mod to get stable.

                          oo
                          oo - represents the area in which you select what tile improvement you want to use. Notice the four categories: land/water/special/Terraforming. Special includes forts (which extend your empire's borders two tiles, and give you vision BUT NOT OF UNITS!) and
                          radar/sonar placements and Obselisks (for science victory). Terraforming allows you to change useless terrain to useful terrain, but at a high cost.

                          Amount of public works per turn == selected in F1 (empire) screen as % of production.

                          As for your machine, it sounds kinda slow.

                          • Thanks Didymus,
                            Sure as hell more infor than in the manual. When I get home from work tonight, I'll give it a try and if I'm still confused, at least I'll know what I'm confused about.

                            And yeah, looking forward to a much faster machine.
                            It ran ok the first 100 turns.

                            I really appreciate getting a response to the real easy things. I'm sure it's been asked many times before, but I looked back and didn't see it. Thanks again.
