Just had a look at a review of CTP2 with a pic of the Earth map. The map seems rather small, does the map come in multiple sizes or is that it.

the world map is 70x140, which is the "gigantic" choice(i think the game engine can take more, but this is what is supported)

Do tariffs exist? If they do, can you set the amount? Can the tariff rate be different for seperate foreign civs? is there a threat to raise tarriffs (if they do, in fact, exist)?

My big question: Are Alliances worth the effort? What benefits do they provide for allied Civs? Are there variable levels of loyalty from Civ to Civ? Can you form alliance groups of 3 or more Civs (a la the Axis powers of WWII)?

        Thanks.

you can have an alliance with the 2 or 3 or 4 civs who can also be allies with each other. this doesnt get any kind of name in the game

            A few "pointed" questions:
1)Are there more barbarians in the game, and would this put a damper on ICS, as those settlers would be vulnerable unescorted?
2)Can you still capture slaves in battle? If so, have you done this?
3)Can you move air units over enemy land units without initiating a battle? How about surface units over undersea units?
4)Have you seen the AIs mining plains and grasslands, or do they just go for food improvements?
5)How does the new way of gathering resources affect your city placement? I mean, it would seem to me that the first ring of tiles is much more improtant to city growth and development than it was before, when you could put workers on any tile in the two-ring radius.
6)Has the purpose of happiness improvements changed? In ctp1, they were primarily to keep your cities from revolting. Has their primary purpose changed in ctp2, perhaps to suppressing crime?
7)Have government types changed any of their characteristics? Do Theocracies still require more food than other early gov'ts?

              Greetings, Markos!

As I have never played CTP before, how easy is it to jump into the game? Is there a steep learning curve?

Can you give us anything else, or maybe more details, about the 32 civ situation?

When you speak about number of city limit under such and such a government, how is it limited? By increased inefficiency or the like?

How bad can my questions get?

A bit of a rant about map size

Mark theres a question in there somewhere

70 by 140 for maps that appalling.. Also I think I recognise that "giagantic" world map it looks very similar to the world map in MPS CIV1 which has to be at least 10 years old!!!!!!

Now Im sure I saw a World map for CTP1 that was similar in size to the MPS Civ2 world map which was alot bigger...Any chance you can import the CTP world map into CTP2 with the scenario editor?

Anyone know if the developers plan on increasing the map size in a patch?? It seems to me that its a bit silly to increase the game lengh by 150 turns but make the map smaller..(compared to CTP1)

As judging by one of the polls on this site regarding what sort of scenarios people would play most, said historical earth maps of one era or another I would imagine Im not the only one less than impressed...

                  Regards

                  Sorn

In chat transcript there is info about minor changes in Map Generator. Have You noticed any ? Are there any new options to customize this process without diging in .txt files ?

Mark, you've put a screenshot, a battleview, this, where the romans have a modern army while the brazilians only an ancient one. I'd like to see a screenshot after the battle, to see if the tank vs. phalanx problem was eliminated or not.

Markos, I have some questions regarding to diplomacy levels:

                            - When you are allied with a civ, does it mean that all the other treaties (science, trade, military) are automatically activated or should you propose each treaty separately ?
                            - Is there an order in which you must propose the treaties, or you can propose whatever you want? Is there a logical order between treaties ?(for ex., can I propose alliance or science treaty even if I don't have trade treaty?) Are there any interdependencies between treaties? (other than the obvious ones )
                            - Does each type of treaty improve the relations independently? So, a science treaty is just a treaty, that gives you science bonus, or does it also improves relations?
                            - Is the trade treaty a prerequisite for sending caravans, or just a bonus?
                            - I presume a war cancels all treaties.

I hope I was clear enough, this time. If not, sorry. My english is not helping me enough . Anyway, thanks for the answers.
