  • Turn 81 ==> Demosthenes

Yes some cities have been lost but, it was necessary loss. Egypt will bring no overtures for peace at present, are armies could not defend the north but the south is well garisoned. We have no interest in signing an accord which will only serve to allow Rome to sit back and refortify, and then attack the peaceable peoples of Egypt.

Comrades, let us build mighty new structures that touch the sky. Let us make our island safe, so that no for can rend us asunder. Wales has seen the light, down with the bourgeoisie, long reign the proletariat.
      Cariad,
      Demosthenes.

Yet more lives lost and again many of them innocent civilians.

          • The Peoples of Caesarea II rejoiced today at the unveiling of the World's first recycling plant...

Daily Gladiator Reporter: "So what does this mean to the average citizen on the street?"

Mrs Gladius Maximus: "Well, it means we can hang our togas out on the washing line without getting those unsightly sooty stains on the fabric..."

Daily Gladiator Reporter: "So there you have it, if we can keep the average Roman housewife happy it will greatly help our war effort against Egypt - never again will a Roman soldier have to go it battle wondering whether he's wearing a clean toga!"

A Public Relations broadcast from the Roman Propaganda Service...

Today Assyria once again finds she must protect herself against new military units threatening her.

These Inca Marines and Cannons have been removed from our southern border. Please do not try to send more.

              • Assyria congratulates Wales on their new government, and hopes the increased productivity will result in a multitude of peaceful improvements for her people.

We also wish to express our appreciation to Rome for her efforts to combat global pollution. As a nation who has more swampy coastline than we'd like, we are quite aware of what a rise in the general sea-level would mean.

The people of Wales celebrated today, as the stability and fruits of their new government became apparent. A recent survey of the public indicated that approval of the new regime is widespread, and the advanced pace of production and construction that our Comrades have brought is bringing out the best in the public's potential.

However, with the ever-increasing threat that global-warming brings, especially to an island race such as ourselves, the increased productivity of a Communist government means that construction of environmentally friendly structures, such as recycling plants, can be achieved much more quickly.

This comes as some relief to many in Wales, as whilst 97% of the Island of Wales is now populated and utilised, many of the towns and cities are located on the coast.

High Priest Jon speaks of "the innocent Incas". Yesterday, the "innocent Inca" Marines and Cannons who were advancing on our settler were attacked.

Today, the "innocent Inca" city of Cahauchi (a military fortress from whence came the soldiers who annihilated Panama) has been taken by the Assyrian army, who feels that a buffer zone between our people and such "innocence" is a prudent thing to have.

                      • If the Egyptians are prepared to end hostilities against Rome, we will end our war with you now that we have consolidated a satisfactory buffer zone by taking Sophara - the final city on what was formally the Northern Egyptian peninsula...

It is with great regret that Wales has now lost it's borders with Egypt. Wales has always viewed Egypt with fondness, we have always had a friendly relationship, none of this war and bloodshed that we see spanning the globe today. Perhaps if you saw the truth and allowed your downtrodden to take the reigns of power, then we could be true comrades again, regardless of distance.

Great Pharoah, as I do not wish you to lose any more cities, take care that a wandering barbarian is prowling the forests east of Oryx, my ambassador who has become lost and dissillusioned managed to get word to Cardiff that these uncouth and smelly visigoths are armed with cannon.

But Sophix, great Pharoah of the Nile, I impeach you, in acknowledgement of my Ambassadors service to your nation, could you please send him home henceforth. I hate to see a comrade lost and so far from home, especially when such hostile bandits lurk in the trees.

Once again the Inca are the victim of as unprovoked attack.

As an aside might I enquire as to the origin of the word 'Incan'? It does not exist by any standard of English that I know of.

                            A linguistically perplexed High Priest.
