  • Turn 28--> Sophanthro

Excitement fills the air as the citizens of Uruk watch the RS Pax Assyrianicus sail into the harbour.Mothers have to restrain their children from diving into the water to greet the ship, because they know that alligators lurk in the swamps nearby.

We wish to explain that we meant no offense to our friend, the mighty Caligula. We feel sure that Roman honour would not allow the use of such agents against their friends, but only voiced a concern about possible stowaways who might arrive without the knowledge of the Emperor.

But our celebration has been tempered with the sadness over the news of the untimely death of the Pharoah's Diplomat. We offer our condolences, and look forward to the day when our two peoples will finally meet.

The first Welsh Embassy is established in the city of Cuspinique. The Incan reception was said to be a wonderful sight. The women there are very tanned and lithe, and so it is to be expected that reproduction is high in this civilisation.

The second Welsh Embassy is due to be established next turn, in the Egyptian city of Sinai. The Welsh Ambassador arrived on Egyptian shores to find lushcious land and thriving trade.

Noble Lord Demosthenes, where are the neccessary virgins for normal Diplomatic relations to be established? How can the High Priest decide upon the worthiness of the Welsh without tasting your fair maidens?

Nevertheless your Emissary is welcome to travel across Inca lands in search of Roman hospitality. It is our earnest hope that we will likewise be able to despatch an Envoy by sea within two Turns.

        High Priest Jon.

        • Our Diplomat has landed, being well rested after his enforced celibacy of about 300 years he is raring to go and looking forward to entering 'Diplomatic Relations' with the Assyrian Welcome Brigade... Know this O great King Rick that the Romans come bearing many gifts for your proud peoples!

Rome is saddened to see that the offer of a map exchange with the Incas was refused - given past incursions by the Incan Armed Forces Emperor Caligula can only expect the worst and prepare for the inevitable...

Rome asks the civilised world to remind the Incas of the benefits of peace - we ask also that the Welsh diplomat may after visiting first the Incas and now we, the Romans, that he may conduct a peacekeeping presence between our borders...

          Peace and Goodwill to all!

It has been six days since the Roman Diplomat waved goodnight to the cheering crowd, and entered the chamber where the ladies of the Welcome Brigade awaited. Since then, there has been no word from him...only numerous notes slipped under the door from inside requesting more food, wine, and some rather peculiar requests we hesitate to mention.

While we understand this Diplomat has been without the company of women for many a night, we do hope he will emerge eventually to meet with us regarding loftier matters!

                Noble St Jon,
I feel that I must apologise for my Ambassador to your great nation, because, and this is somewhat embarrassing, but due to unexpected delays in the journey, the three score virgins that joined him aboard his ship were not of the same condition when they disembarked.

This Ambassador will be dealt with fully, and personally, by myself when he returns. For the mean time, please allow him safe passage through your kingdom, and know that more Welsh virgins are being sent in your direction.

                • Emperor Caligula welcomes the map exchange with the Incas - he hopes the delay was not caused by hastily moving exposed southbound armies into the shelter of the staging posts, sorry cities to the S and W of Pucara... Ah yes, there were two after all as reliable sources suggested...

Rome rejoices at the successful commencement of Diplomatic ties with the Assyrian Kingdom, whilst also eagerly anticipating the imminent reciprocation of Embassies by the Egyptians!!!

A huge parade in Uruk has celebrated the completion of the Roman Embassy, and a fine building it is. Towering ivory spires topped with hammered gold that can be seen glinting in the sunlight from many leagues away.

The people of Assyria are grateful to the Emperor Caligula for his generosity, and have reciprocated as best we can. May his lands and people prosper.

Apoligies to my mighty neighbours. A Map Exchange has been offered this Turn.

Noble Welsh, we await your young nubiles with anticipation but wonder why your Envoy remains hard by Macchu Picchu when you expressed the desire for him to depart as quickly as possible to Rome.

Fear not, my diplomat is heading south, but could not reach your road at this time due to the dense undergrowth outside the city. He will shortly be on his way with haste after reaching your roads.

Oh Mighty Neighbour, What a BIG BOY you have become!!!!!

We Inca had always been proud of the fertility and fruitfulness of our maidens and of our land but a sight of the map of your Empire causes every Inca man to hang his head in shame. The Inca Womens Institute staged a violent demonstration along the streets of Cuzco demanding the compulsory prescription of Viagra to all males over the age of ten in order to give them satisfaction.

                          • Noble St. John,

After your discovery you must truly be thanking your lucky stars that your most gracious neighbour is truly as peaceful as I am...

Rome believes that peace comes through Strength - history is littered with peaceful and advanced civilisations who have attempted to attain Nirvana by neglecting the security of an effective deterrant, only to have their weak and flickering flames of wisdom snuffed out by savage and ignorant barbarians who have appetites only for conquest and destruction...!!!

Rome has a robust foreign relations policy where like is traded for like as all our neighbours can testify...

The Empire awaits the heralded arrival of the Welsh ambassador with barely restained anticipation!

Having seen the Roman Diplomatic Ship sail on to new shores, the Assyrian Royal Court want to express their collective wishes for a safe and productive voyage.
We consider Emperor Caligula a good friend and generous neighbor, and we know that Neptune will watch over his ship.

Noble One, the diplomat is heading further south. It appears that there was no dense undergrowth, but equally there was a passage that needed to be traversed 'off-road', hence the delay.

                                Nubiles on their way...
