Gang - Don has brought up a good point(in an e-mail to me). Hang on to the saved game that u have been sent from previous player for 1 turn. If the player that u send to has not responded within 24 hrs, replay your turn and attach an ai to the player for one turn or until we have heard from them. U would then just e-mail the game to the next player in line.
Is everyone ok with this? Also, is 24 hrs to long to wait? Maybe 12 would be better.

I'm afraid to imagine what the AI would do if given control of a carefully planned player civilization. But it is only fair to the other players to keep the game moving, and this sounds like the most workable solution. I'll vote in favor of it.
P.S. Where can I find some good instructions and examples of how the command line switches work, especially the ones for attaching and severing an AI?

Chris-
The info is in the Read Me that comes with the 1.2 patch. It is burried near the bottom in the advanced user section.
AI taking over PBEM/Hotseat player
You can use the /attachcommand from the chat window (hit the ' key) to assign an AI to play the turn of a Hotseat player that has left the game. To allow a human player to assume an AI players turn, use the /detach command. For PBEM games, you must set all players as human (and include an email address) for the first turn of play. On any further turns you can then attach/detach AI's as before.

Ed sent me turn 4 this morning at 7:30 AM. I'll play it when I get home from work and pass it along.
Twelve hours may be too little time. If someone sent me the game at 4:00 AM, I really wouldn't be able to come home from work just to play a turn. If it is super-important, I can try to check for a turn in the morning before work, but I'm not much of a morning person.

I agree with Chris, a move comes in early am, some days I won't be able to get to it until 6pm. How about a compromise.
Any turn received by noon is to be completed, sent, and posted by midnight.
Any turn not posted by midnight will be considered late, the original sender will turn on AI for the late player and get the game moving again.

Don, it's your web browser settings. With IE, if you don't set it to look for the most recent version of a webpage, it will use the one stored in the Temp Internet Files folder. Under Internet Options, you are able to set the browser to look for the most recent version of a webpage and to clear out the Temp Internet Files folder when you disconnect. I'm sure Netscape is similar."The greatest happiness of life is the conviction that we are loved - loved for ourselves, or rather, loved in spite of ourselves."--Victor Hugo
