Just had a worrying thought...
With the map currently set on gigantic do you think we will ever meet one another or will we play till the year 3000 without ever meeting anyone else? can we have the option to play over the year 3000?
I should have given more thought when i was planning this game... next game I'll organise I'll put in a small map so everyone meets each other earlier and also should make some interesting discussions on border disputes....
A dutcheese scenario on a small map certainly comes to my mind.....Monkey I am proud to be!

The only thing with playing the Dutcheese Scenario on a small map is that the last guys to play the first turn wont have much real estate if any. 10 cities take up quite a chunk of land and the smaller the map the more kaos, the diplomacy would be interesting to say the least. The question is do you want all eight of us settling all 10 of our cities?

Well,
I personally havent checked out the dutcheese scenario yet but if all 10 settlers start out on the same square then it would take some time for the settlers to move out and settle cities unless you want all your 10 cities to severely overlap one another. Therefore the ones who take the later turns don't really have a MAJOR disadvantage unless they were unlucky enough to get a spot really close to another civ.
I was thinking maybe all future "Activision default" games I organize will be doughnut world and small map.... unless Activision introduces the accelerated start feature in pbem.
also I worry that by playing on a gigantic map, players will spend the first 100 turns not meeting most of the civs. By the time truly interesting diplomacy comes along the game might end at 3000AD!! that is why I'm hoping that we can play over the year 3000 AD if needed or it will feel like a waste of time playing the game!!!Monkey I am proud to be!

I don't think it will take us that long to find each other. Of course it depends on how much adventuring we do. But with 8 players, I'm sure we'll be bumping into each other in another 30 turns. What would that equal... 2 months of play time? That is okay though, I came into this game realizing that the real fun takes about 150 turns to reach.

Thats another thing I hate about CTP is that you can only play to the year 3000 ( unless you get one of those mods). Why cant you just play as long as you want, but have an option for a time limit if your interested in a score. Isnt this how civ2 is kinda set up.
