Turn recieved... will play after work...

Sorry for the screw-up with the previous turn... had to order a new AC adapter for my laptop/modem (It's a laptop, but I wirelessly network through it for the modem since I don't have one on my tower)...

anyway, the AC adapter lit up with smoke and everything, I'll be flashing on and offline until it arrives on Wednesday or Thursday for my turns... don't expect much activity here though after noon (I'm on a new work schedule!)
I'm not conceited, conceit is a fault and I have no faults...

Civ and WoW are my crack... just one... more... turn...

How many play by email CTP games have the players of Land Ahoy finished?

      This is my first!

I've been destroyed in one, but that's the only one I've finished so far. I inherited a civ that was behind the times and under attack, but I had fun while it lasted.

rickety and flameflash are new to Apolyton - as I remember the first PBEM started a few months ago.. Bulletproof??

I personally am an Internet player, the scourge of the online servers - I advise EVERYONE to try Internet games at least once.. They are without parallel.....

when you play an internet game of ctp, how do you work the time? Once you have a lot of cities a turn could take quite some time if you are trying to keep a handle on all aspects of the game.

Do you sit online for hours or days at a time?

Yeah, you're right Gav... Bulletproof was the first one I actually started...

If I could log on to the Internet servers for CTP I'd play it...

Aganon, sometimes turns can be slow - especially land maps, BUT internet players only move units on their turns - they change build queues, use public works, set caravans whilst the others are playing.... To put it in perspective, we played for three hours last night (3 player) and got to turn 90 - thats 270 player turns in 180 minutes.# - and we had delays for people losing connection.

Two player land games turns can take up to 10 minutes.

10 minutes? Who has the time?

Seriously, though, I would love to play online, I've got broadband but I can't connect to any games

David42one, what do you mean by you cannot connect to any games?? I suspect you may mean that you hang at waiting for servers? - OR if u click a game and attampt to join, you may be clicking on locked games (every game (almost) is locked once it is started) . Everyone should try on line once, it is fun!

Turn 7 sent to J Bytheway.

Yeees, I remember back when I was a naive beginner at PBEM... I think it was a quaint little game called Bulletproof that I popped my cherry on... Gosh, that seems so long ago now... Already that game is up to turn 20. It must be hard not to be intimidated agagnon, but press on, press on. I'll be merciful from my position of vast experience and wisdom... probably

Hey IF you can all get online for an hour or so this weekend, lets have a strategy session?? - How about this for a laugh - All of you versus little old me - No I don't expect to win... no one could- but it would be a bit of fun!

That sounds like fun, Gav... the only problem is I'd have to connect via an IP address rather than an actual server...

Turn recieved, will play after work...

FedEx just dropped off my AC adapater so I'm back and running at my full speed.
