Faded Glory who you write as Cannon Fodder, would crush EVERYONE on that list with the exception of Swissy in Interent play! BUT to take into account PBEM players turns will not be time constrained.

Fav, I think we should play a pre-maid, ruin cleaned map. Suggestions for map size - Tiny, Small, or?

My personal thought is that we should also have quite some water - no island map, but with smaller landmases to colonize.

It sounds appropriate - start on opposite islands, and see who is first to colonize the other large ones.

I am afraid I do not have the map... although it would not be for me to authorise its use anyway!

We need to start thinking about how this is gonna run - Do we need to start each game as a Scenario to use a premade map?? Who is prepared to make a premade map?? It would have to be someone NOT in the competition...

Solver I think the map would have to be huge in size... the reason being is that this is a game to incorporate all strategies to work out the best player... on anything smaller the aggressive military player will have too much of an advantage I feel. The map that jbytheway refers to is reg in size with four islands joined by a central hub - Games start fairly slow as there are minimal trade goods (not even 4 of each) and the start player will be able to reach the hub of the 4 islands first and block movement of the other player - essential player one would get three islands, player 2 just the one... so no go. Here is what I would like to see.... 2 Large continents joined by several land bridges.... symmetrical smaller Islands - and a large supply of goods and mountains.... essentially all the building materials to suit all play styles, be it mad science rushing, high producers, high growth etc....

I also would like to suggest that entry cut off be a week from now?? Which means if Paulno1 and Doom want in they better post soon... Darth Viper would like to play, so hopefully he will post soon - And Blackice I really want him in, as he has a great chance of lifting the overall trophy..

Solver do you think Keygen would maybe create a map for this competition??

It would be good if every player get a copy of the map because you cant be sure that anyone get the map before the game start. Otherwise you would need a new map for every game.

Oh everyone must get a copy of the map at least 3 or 4 days before competion starts.... Then we can all analyse it and plan strategy.

Will all you guys join the Apolyton League? CTP Internet Ratings.. The scoring is similar to Gameleague, apart from each player puts up 10% of their score then it is distributed according to position and added on ( BUT you don't have 10% deducted from score.... Paul made the comment once, there was no point him playing against lower scored opponents, as you gained nothing.... This is no longer true).

I think the GL scoring was good cause an average player couldnt come top by beating the same useless person a hundred times.

10% idea just meanseffectively, that you are better off playing the same useless person and getting 10% of the points, over and over again, easiest way to get to the top of the rankings.
I only played people with low scores occasionally cause they were generally not so good (and not so fun) . But who cares i guess, not me.

I will join the tourney, Im very upset though i have allready spent all the $500 on the guarentee i would win, but now 3 people who hve played the game longer than me have joined )-:

I like the idea of having a copy of the map before the game starts. Plans, plans, plans, and more plans. And then when I get in the game, I will scrap them all and make new plans. How many people do we have as of right now? Do you have a list of the opponents so far? And I also would like to enter the apolyton statistics as well. Where do I go?

Paulie, you forget something... we are all useless here... .... There is no ideal scoring method... I use a different method, for scoring in the ratings I run... Now our top player loses points for winning!

It has been a great buzz for me to play against new players recently... I have been in against Filix, Catete and Dragon... I learned much - It would be difficult for me to win this competition, BUT I certainly won't come anywhere near last... My biggest problem is I do not have enough experience playing against enough different opponents... But Iam trying to put that right..

Catete, Patryn to join the rankings you just need to post on the CTP internet ratings thread (it will be at the top with this thread) and then just start playing... You should both quickly move up the rankings.

Filix, when we started our game we put an AI in for Blackice... IF you wanted to start a rated game we can restart a new one later this week - if Catete agrees.... The rules on rated games are pretty specific... cooperation (map exchanges, science trading, private messaging) are outlawed, and considered cheating... so although I know *coughs* you think me and Catete were cooperating in the game.... you will know for sure in a rated game we will not.

Paulie, if I have to send you USD500, I will feel ill for at least a month......
