      • Ok 7.5 food slows your pg but no biggy you make it up several turns down the road with a larger civ. I need to stress the point micro manage. You need to ajust your sliders back when you change governments.

What I mean is if you do not want to take forever changing to a new government leave the sliders at default until it changes. On that note leave them that way for one turn until the civ adjusts. One turn and you will see happiness from 73 to 76...Also click yes I want to change my government then go to the civ button and change it there too. That also speeds the government change remember when changing governments your science is at zero. This is the best time to change trade routes or put workers on food not goods that are slowing your growth and not connected to a trade route.

Next the gold at one turn to change drop science until you increase this amount then drop it back until you get to one again, hike pw to 30 or better. You will save large amounts of gold over time this way. If your building ques empty during this period put them on max production and infrastructure.
When waiting for a government change put all cities on max food. This way your happiness will soar for a turn or two and cities tend to grow faster this way.

You will not have the largest cities if your food is not set to 7.5 but you will have respectable sized cities. This means while the opponent strugles with happiness because of city size you are ready for the kill. This is also how you stablize the renesance to modern science and happiness and growth delema some people have.

To me mircomanagement is the best part of all civilization games

I heard a loud voice, I looked, and there before me was a pale horse! It's rider was named Death, and hades was following close behind him. They were given power over one fourth of the earth to kill by the sword, famine and plague.

Well, one sure fire way is to "Cut-and-Paste". It wouldnt take too long, and just save it in Word or anothr similiar program! PLUS, if you did that, you could divide it up, Highlight a section for Scince, one for growth, one for urban sprawl, ect. ect.

Your stack of 9 SOLs are patroling the high seas when they run into your enemy's stack of 9 SOLs. What do you do? What do you do?

              A. Run as fast as possible
              B. Bombard them knowing you will take out 3 of them.
              C. Straight out attack them, get it over with, and hope for some veteren units.

                  Excellent advise my friend!

As you single file bombard, move to different directions, thus limiting your opponents response options, since if you iniate, he will be damage somewhat, you will have upper hand!

                  • Haven't had the time to read this thread before much, but now read a good portion of it.

First thing I'd like to tell is that while I consider myself a pretty solid player at Civ 2 (not a great one, but a solid), I completely suck at CtP. Two things that make me go crazy are stacking and PW. I only very recently learned to stack properly. And, what' your PW allocation, in the start of game, and later, and what do you do with your PW usually?

Second, just a mention of what I've done in nearly all my SP games, after I learned to. Build the London Exchange ASAP and at all costs ignore Robotics. War Walker is nothing too great, and without Robotics researched, you can still get the Alien Project, and most techs... no Plasmatica or CryoTanks, but I was first amazed at actually how many techs go without robotics. No maintenance is completely HUGE, and, with Edison's Lab coming later, it means absolute science lead... go London's!

                    • Wonders always give me a headache.... And I would always rather play without them... They skew the game tremendously... A lucky find in a ruin may give you economics... I don't even like playing with Stealth units... I am playing a PBEM with Darth Viper where we have wonders, and I got distracted and built some... great I felt so proud.... then he comes and captures 10 of my cities whilst I am busy celebrating... I prefer CTP the war game, and my brain just aint big enough to cope with Wonders and Stealth Units.... HAck and slash, blood and mayhem, not stealth and intrigue for me!

                        • A massive deception "Wonders" I can't count how many times that has happened to me Now stealth units hehehe those are the cats meow. TNT spies took out 5 cities before he knew they were there

PW all depends on the terrain if you have mountains 10% pw off the get go. Every time for the most part your tech is about to advance at one turn crank the pw to 30% minimum. Build only mines and roads until large fisheries as cities grow just fine until then.

Theory has it the increase in the pw takes up the wasted production points on the tech advance...

                            • Heh good stuff Gav I like to create a game AI me, I have an online going now year 1500 and something 69% civ score AI are big but I am light years ahead in tech. I will now stop wars as they get jealous and will feed all AI with tech from here on in. Now it gets interesting they mostly will not attack you right out but the stealth units about to hit me make the game. This is how I learned the stealth units. Subneural aid is an AI killer and one of my favorites in the game.

I try to deliver this type of game with other players as the race for space without war is an incredible game of wits, corporate monopoly, counter espionage , tactics and dipolmacy.

Looking forward to seeing your TV evanglist at my door soon

                              • Interesting to note within 10 turns I have 90% I hope to break the 200% barrier I broke in CTP. Notice 4 riots, not one city has less than 76% happiness all 90 something of them seems to be a default setting. I just conquered the world heh not yet but the game thinks so.

My average happiness is 86% most cities growth is one per turn. 80,000 production or over, it is year 1500 a.d. so I was close lol. Science is 25,000 or so I have to hurry to space now fast lolol. Just turned techno., Pollution -0 and going down 104 % civ score. This game should net me 120-150% civ score easy. I may have 120 or more cities by games end 200 more is target. The AI is starting to toss stealth units now lawyers lolol. Robin Trower playing in background beer in hand +14c is the temperature outside Anyone else?
