Exploring the land around Cardiff a unit of Phalanx came across what appeared to be more ruins of an old uncivilized race. Closer inspection found that some of the people here where not so barbaric. in fact they had heard of the great advances already made by the Welsh cities and longed for citizenship of Wales. The finest of them was taken and a few good men from Cardiff were selected to join them and they where sent out to construct the forth Welsh City of Brecon.

'What luck to have discovered such a fine bunch of new Citizens to strengthen our nation with' said a delighted Frazer on hearing the news.

Yeah that doesn't suprise me at all. Mine's much the same. It usually goes like this, lets say for a five player game.

Player No. 1 - Excellent land with rivers up the gazoo
No2. Pretty darn good with a nice little river.
No3. So-so with maybe some nice tiles
            No4. Not too player friendly
No5. Can you say Desert, Ice or Snow. River!..What's that? If there was a river here, it dried up ages ago.

It depends on the settings too. But whether you can take advantage of a great starting position or do something with a crappy spot depends on your skill at playing this game. Just think of it as a challenge if you don't manage to get a great spot.

I think maybe custom made maps are the way to go, they seem to be very popular in the civ2 world.

The first player getting the best starting spot in built into the game. Go to the Userprofile.txt, the player number=1 means the first player gets the best starting spot. Change that number and it will give one of the other players the best spot.

              Turn to Maximus(The Bird Man)

The final group have found a good spot to settle, by the sea near a group of mountains. Our scouting party has encountered a band of fighters, well trained and armed with swords thinner and longer than our city militias. Our warriors were amazed at the swiftness of their movements. They offered to join into service of Swisshawk.

Couse this place is rather nice.

I think uniform maps are the way to go, while I would agree it is a test of your skill managing bad land. In the end run say plains vs mountains the later will win almost everytime due to production.

I have also found in multiplayer games that the player 1 etc is not the case. After 20 or so games it is wise to reload CTP, for some reason player 1 starts to get the ice caps, barren land and or desert in each and every game. I have play tested this extensively after reloading game all is well again.

For rating purposes if you care about that, it is wise to check your land before committing to being rated in a game. That way you can maximise your win/loss ratio.

I personally like PBEM as it makes you learn how to deal with all land types, for once though I would like to see a nice river or great land I have what 12-15 or so games going and the land ranges from ok to bad

Today we found a ruin, we explored this ruin and it was in ruins. We dug we searched we torched it for warmth.

Let's face it in a leg race if one runner is running down hill with wind at back, and the other is running up hill with wind at face. Who will win if they are of equal talent, if you say the up hill runner I have some land I'd like to sell you

Our final group has settled and brgins training a milita. Our warriors bid farewell to the new found comrades in arms, as they head for the woods. Our new fighters, they call themselves samurai, head for the plains. All is good in the world of Swisshawk.

                              Turn 10 to Paul.

Maybe my dear brother Romulus have been too demanding. I hear complaints from his family in Rome, that they do not get enough to eat. Some of the youngest even deny to work.

I have just asked a few from my family to go to Rome, see what's happens there.
