Tomorrow I'll start a new topic where you will post your preferences.
    Till tomorrow then .

I'm about to go for a weekend away but I don't want to slow things down. Please use the same preferences I have for Strife Challenge Keygen, except character name is "Austin Cambridge" and bloodlust off. Oh, and I'm still in GMT zone , but on Saturday we move to GMT+1 for summer. I think that the US does not move till next weekend. Or that's what they tell me at work, so it'll be even more difficult for me speak to my US colleagues for a week.

      • Hi all,
as in the subject. I'm a beginner to PBEM, not to Civ: CTP, though. I've just tried how the PBEM option works having sent turns to some different e-mail accounts of mine and ready to "cross swords" with you ). I realize long term obligation and welcome any game level/configuration. Please let me know when and how we can start. Please inform me if I should take into account something specific before participation.

        C u.

        • Hi vitolg.

I'll try to find some players in the next 2-3 days.
I guess you have already patch 1.2 intalled which is the only required thing you need to play PBEM games exept patience .
The rest will be defined when the players are found.
Until then take a look at the "Strife - Challenge" topic to have a taste on what you will be probably asked.

Do you mean I'm invited to that game?

I've found that there is no restriction against trying different movements/actions before sending a final best turn. This means that one can explore potentially dangerous ruins without any risk or even make other more critical steps not being punished for his careless curiousity. Though it takes some additional minutes and monotonous operations "close-delete the turn file-open anew-trying another", it's still possible. Do you have any regulations regarding this?

Ok, Keygen, we seem to have written almost at the same time. I saw your answer and is on holding on now.

There hasn't been an extended discussion on what is cheat and what is not in PBEM game as I am aware of so I guess opinions differ on this subject. In my opinion it is not a cheat to repeat a move in case the move you just did wasn't the one you wanted to do but accidently you made it. It is not a cheat to do a test move or choise to discover some game function you may not know as far as it doesn't affect or reveal other players or units/cities. It is a cheat to move units to ruins or different directions to see what is there and then replay the turn if not suitable.

                      • I don't think "accidents" should happen in a PBEM game. One of the main ideas behind PBEM is the ability to choose wisely! I'm of the opinion that once you've played your turn, you shouldn't go back and change it. But, I guess we all have to give each other the benefit of the doubt.

What happens if your hand slips away a little and send a troop one or two tiles away? It happens once in a while.

                          • Me too but I always get very bored to replay the turn .
                            No pain no gain .

                            • This is hard to admit! I have replayed turns !

Not when I have bumped into babarians (just read different topics to see that this is true) but when I forgot to do something I and "some" has agreed to do i.e. exchange maps or exchange knowledge every turn.

Major losses - the second reason to replay:

Well - I have seldom been into wars where I have been loosing a battle that I have launched, course I always attack with my maximum strenght (bombers/fighters/ships and then the army (ask Swissy, the US game).

Nobody wants to loose - sure. But you can't control everything. Even if - IF - you tried and played the turns forward, you still can't predict the moves and the strategy of your fellow gamers. It is no good.

Therefore, cheat isn't a big treath to the PBEM games. But I would like - as most of you - that there was a kind of password on your own turns.

Well, for one thing, your unit may run into an enemy unit and get killed; So there's a lesson to be learned. On the other hand, your unit may conveniently uncover bountiful tiles that wouldn't have been accesible otherwise. I, however, see no reason to make a big deal out of this for we are, after all, honorable guys

BTW, I have wasted time and lost quite a few units this way too
