  • CTP City Population Growth Tables

    In the hopes of clarifying some of the disputes regarding the best population growth methods, I have published the following tables.

    CITY POPULATION GROWTH TABLE

    To Go
    From.
    Pop : GRN CHF CHF WRL WRL DTY DTY
    ..... BON NG. WG. NG. WG. NG. WG.
    1-->2 175 105 105 158 158 175 175
    2-->3 262 210 035 315 140 350 175
    3-->4 350 315 053 473 211 525 263
    4-->5 525 473 123 630 280 700 350

    GRN BON = Granary additional food bonus realized when moving from one population size to the next with a Granary.
    CHF NG. = Chieftain Level additional food needed to move to next population level WITHOUT a granary.
    CHF WG. = Chieftain Level additional food needed to move to next population level WITH a granary.
    WRL NG. = Warlord Level additional food needed to move to next population level WITHOUT a granary.
    WRL WG. = Warlord Level additional food needed to move to next population level WITH a granary.
    DTY NG. = Prince through Deity Level additional food needed to move to next population level WITHOUT a granary.
    DTY WG. = Prince through Deity Level additional food needed to move to next population level WITH a granary.

    CITY POPULATION SIZE PENALTY TABLE
    City Happiness Penalty Formula For City Population Size (I.e. Negative Happiness): (Results less than zero are considered to be zero.)

    Chieftain (Pop - 6) For Example: Pop Size 7 - 6 = 1 Negative City Happiness Points
    Warlord.. (Pop - 5)
    Prince... (Pop - 4)
    King..... (Pop - 3)
    Emperor.. (Pop - 2)
    Deity.... (Pop - 1) For Example: Pop Size 7 - 1 = 6 Negative City Happiness Points

          And although I hate the way Quinns literally sprays the place with cities that look more like villages to me, it does give him an advantage...

            Good job Quinns!
            Goverment type also affects population growth greatly.
            Theocracy has the worst population growth for certain.
            Some city improvements other than Granary also affect population growth and some Wonders too .

              Ah yes.... Keygen. I forgot about those. Thanks. And jpww, you can go ahead and build the "darn things" if you want. They are a waste of money for me in the early stages of a "DEITY" game. (Chieftain level is a different story, look at the totally ridiculous growth you get with a granary at Chieftain level!) Anyway, if I build granaries, I can't spray the place with cheap villages!! . But who listens to someone whose rating is barely mediocre anyway (mine, that is)!

                Excellent! Even though I've seen posts saying that "stupid granaries do close to nothig". Good work.

                    Quinns knows best!

                    At any rate, I'd rather rush-buy an an aqueduct than a granary...

                      It could be interesting to create a CtP Forum in order to store info about game mecanism. no?

                              Well thanks Solver, Keygen, Thor, ZoboZe, and Jpww! I hope this can benefit some of us who don't know the "tricks" of CTP City Growth yet. I think we can all agree that the key to this game is city growth --- boring! Let's even this "supply sergeant's trick" out for everyone, so we can concentrate on more important aspects of the game ... LIKE WAR STRATEGY!
