  • Fancy a game of chess ?

I have created a small scenario, designed specifically for multi-player.
This scenario creates the 'king' unit (no, not Elvis ).
This unit is nothing more than a diplomat, with enhanced vision and movement range,
and without the spying capability (investigate city).

    But ... !

Each (human controlled) tribe starts with one king.
When you loose your king, you loose the game.
This means that, if your king gets killed, you entire empire is destroyed.
This also explains the name of the scenario.

So, what are you going to do ?
Are you going to hide your king away, and let his talents go to waste ?
Are you going to send him out, to make contact with other nations, and risk his life ?
    It is up to you.

The scenario also creates two extra settlers, for a accelerated start of the game.
So, at chieftain and warlord, you start with four settlers.
At other difficulty settings, you start with three settlers.

I think this single unit should have a profound impact on gameplay.

It should also help involvement and role-playing in the game.
(If you want to know more about this, just ask Hamilcar.)

Anyone interested, just send me a mail, and I will send you the scenario.
And of course, all suggestions and remarks are welcome.

Cheers for the scenario Maestro. I know a few people who'll love it But since they think I'm normally the warmonger I might have to keep my king hidden, 'cos I know they''l take the first chance they get to knock him off. A payback kinda thing, u know...

Cool, I'm trying to do a similar thing with CTP2, but so that the king can only be killed by one unit (and losing is harder) - The Assasin.
Could you please send me a copy, or post it on Apolyton. Thanks.

I have asked MarkG to put the scenario in the download section.

Wombat, I will see if I can create an assassin unit.
Do you have a sprite ?

Zoboze, I have purposely made the king very weak, so you must either protect it with other units, or rely on the goodwill of the other party.
I have thought about having the king 'motivate' other units, but this will only be possible with the extended SLIC of CTP2.

One more thing : when playing the scenario, I recommend that you disable ruins. I have already added 2 settlers, so you do not need ruins for extra settlers.

            Good idea.

            Another thing too :
A king must have a defense value quit good for past time (ex: 3) and a null attack value.

But all units stacked with him could have a bonus on attack or defense.
Because people are more motived to fight.

So a simple warrior could not kill the king.
